Probably the easiest fix is to move the 3 PT line a few feet back, say to 25 or 26 feet and, as you say, eliminate it completely from the corners. To me, Silver is essentially a caretaker…an NBA lifer who goes along with the flow to maintain his privileged job (he makes well over $10M a year). Whatever the case, the NBA has to do something…[Read more]

Tony, season tickets are pretty cheap regardless….mine are $150 per ticket in the Lower Bowl. And that’s for 20 home games. How much lower can ticket prices go?

I’ll try that…how do you sync the game?

I used to be a huge basketball fan (college and pro) but now the only basketball I watch are the Utes and some March Madness. I started losing my interest in the NBA when the Golden State Warriors’ style of ball began its ascent and now it’s completely gone, more than likely never to return. Case in point, I went to see the Miami Heat versus the…[Read more]

The Miami Ute started the topic Way too early Top 25 rankings for the 2025 college football season in the forum Football 6 days ago
The Athletic came out this morning with its projected preseason Top 25 and it isn’t pretty.
They’ve slotted ASU as #9 and BYU as #10. The only other Big XII teams to make the cut are Baylor at #18 and KSU at #23. Not even an honorable mention of Utah (how soon they forget).
To my amateur view, it really looks like they are projecting and…[Read more]

Well, I’ve had season tickets for the last few years and I’m usually there for every home game. Utah’s biggest problem under Smith has been its inability be competitive on the road. Tomorrow, the Utes will be at #10 Houston. If they get comprehensively blown out, we’ll be back to Square 1.

I watched maybe three or four plays of this game. I wonder what the TV ratings will look like.

Nothing will change until the team starts winning consistently. And by winning consistently, I mean repeat NCAA tournament appearances, always in contention for winning the conference, and being nationally ranked. It’s a truism that winning fixes everything. I can guarantee anyone on this site that if Utah went on a decade plus run similar to…[Read more]

This is the second time that I’ve seen Erickson airball a FT. He did it last year as well. I’m almost 60 years old and have been watching organized basketball since the mid-70s and had never seen another player do that, either in the pros or college.

The Keita I saw last night was essentially no different than the Keita I saw during the 22-23 season. That should tell you all you need to know. In today’s version of professional basketball, at any level, there’s little to no role for a player that has zero offensive game.

I’ve watched the NBA and NCAA for almost 50 years and have seen many guys like Keita. He’s what’s known as a “gold brick”, essentially a guy who looks the part and has all of the physical measurables but, unfortunately, doesn’t have the requisite skills or innate basketball IQ to deliver what’s expected of him. I hope he’s taking BYU for the…[Read more]

Jim, my view is that unless you already have a solid, veteran team, these “one and done” guys won’t be able to move the needle much. You certainly won’t be able to win the NCAAs if your roster is composed primarily of one and done players. BYU supposedly has two lottery picks and another player with 1st RD grades. Yet, what I saw last night on…[Read more]

It seemed like there were a lot fewer BYU fans at this game compared to the one last year.
Anyways, once again, this was a game, like many last season, that Utah should have won easily in regulation if the Utes were a mediocre FT shooting team. At the end of the game, BYU’s defense was reduced to a “Hack-a-Lovering” or “Hack-a-Auser” and it…[Read more]

To me, the most shocking thing about D. Smith is that, despite missing a portion of the season, he set the PAC record for triple-doubles in a season. When you think of all the Hall of Famers that have played in that conference, it’s just crazy to know that no other player had more triple-doubles than Smith. And, no one will ever be able to take…[Read more]

I don’t know about that. I don’t recall the team really accomplishing anything when Worster was getting major minutes. On the other hand, you could make a solid case that Smith was the only reason why last season’s team made it to the NIT Semis. Do you know why Worster transferred to Nebraska?

I can only imagine where this team would be if Smith hadn’t transferred to Saint John’s. Certainly better than 10-6 at this point of the season. Smith, by the way, is having a good season with the Johnnies, averaging almost 11 PPG/6 RBG/4 APG on 28 Minutes a night.

Well, I’m feeling a hell of a lot better going into Saturday’s game versus the TDS. If Utah easily handled a TCU team that beat BYU, we might have a shot on Saturday.

Oh my Lord!!! Why hasn’t Dawes been playing regularly? Seems like a tough ask to guard him.
