Florida State just started this season like they finished last year. They just lost a significant amount of buffer if they want to go to the CFP. Still have to play Miami, Clemson, Florida, etc…I’d be shocked if they were still playing in January.

Oregon’s football success is living proof that enough money can resolve just about any problem.

Welcome to the club. I could write a post stating that Rising is going to win the Heisman and here’s why, and someone would down vote it. It happens to a lot of people here.

2015. Utah vs Oregon. 62-20 at Autzen. I watch highlights from that game at least 2-3 times every season.

Unfortunately, that’s it. A lot of dominoes have to fall for Utah to bypass teams like UNC, UVA, Miami, FSU, etc…

It must really suck to know that you’ll be forever winless against a team. For when the One Great Scorer comes to mark against Williams’ name, He’ll write—not how he played the Game-but that he’s 0-3 versus Utah.

Really? That didn’t seem to stop a mediocre Kentucky team from beating the Gators at the Swamp the following week. And that was a game that wasn’t particularly close. Now, are you saying that a Kentucky team that went 7-6 in the SEC was better than the 2022 PAC title winning Utes?

The Miami Ute replied to the topic CFP projection: Why Kansas State is in, Utah out after training camp in the forum Football 2 months, 4 weeks ago
Evidently, they do. Of the toughest tests on their schedule — Oklahoma State, Kansas and Iowa State — only the game against the Cyclones is on the road.

I agree. I guess the problem is that a second Big XII entrant into the CFP would cut into the B1G’s allocation. The article talks about that issue and I personally find it hard to believe that the Big XII and the B1G would have the same number of entrants into the CFP.

Bruce Feldman from The Athletic picks KSU to be the Big XII rep at the next CFP. Story is here: Bruce Feldman’s Playoff Projection.
He doesn’t specifically say why he dropped Utah out of the playoff picture, but he details all the weapons that KSU has at its disposal.

The game at UCF really worries me now. Last game of a long season, players nicked up, about as long of a plane ride you can take from Utah and still stay in the Lower 48, rabid, sold out stadium with the likelihood of a national audience against a pretty good team.

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Biggest fears going in to the new conference. in the forum Football 2 months, 4 weeks ago
Biggest Fear Number 1 – That neither Rising nor Kuithe are the same players that they were before their injuries. This being football, it would not be the first time something like this happened. If that’s true, particularly in Rising’s case, then we’re in for a rollercoaster season, to put it mildly.
Biggest Fear Number 2 – That Utah gets every…[Read more] -

Brother, did you not read the part where I said that the floor for this team was a nine-win season? I’d hardly count that as a failure. Nine wins is what Utah had both times they won the PAC.

No. I’m not wrong. I’ve literally heard Whitt say that they went too hard at each other during the 2022 Fall Camp and that led to a bunch of guys on defense being nicked up for the opener against Florida. I’ve also literally heard him say that they dialed back the tackling in the 2023 Fall Camp so the same thing wouldn’t happen again.

To borrow a phrase, you are what your record says you are. A team that wins 10 games in a power conference is always better that a team in another power conference that finishes with a losing record. Talent is just one part of the equation.

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Are you ready to drink the Kool-Aid? in the forum Football 2 months, 4 weeks ago
You have your facts wrong. Whitt himself said after that game that the defense was beat up from Fall Camp. That’s the reason why they laid off on tackling before playing Florida again last year.

Well, to give you my opinion, I went to that game in Gainesville and, other than the INT in the end zone at the end of the game, thought that Rising did pretty damn well considering the environment and circumstances. The stats say the same thing (22/32, 216 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT). Now the real question is when was the last time you saw Utah lose…[Read more]

You think Oklahoma State and UCF are better than that Florida team that Utah lost to in 2022? I do. And Kuithe was healthy that day, had a great game and Utah still lost. All I’m saying is that I’m getting a sense of euphoria from this fan base that’s primed for a letdown. The opponents have their weapons and want to win as well. Other than…[Read more]

I’d like to drink the Kool-Aid but I’m a firm believer in the old adage “pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.” I do believe that this particular team’s floor is around nine wins. However, only time will tell if they can put at it all together against teams that will be extremely motivated to beat the Utes.

Eagle, I believe if you had that superpower you might lose interest in the team. No one really likes to know how sausage is made.
