I got to the Huntsman before the doors opened and there was already a medium size line of people waiting to get in. I think that it’ll be a good crowd tonight. As I bought my ticket just after the victory versus Iowa, I noticed that there weren’t as many tickets available.

Utah already beat Wazzu, Oregon, and Colorado at the Huntsman. They also would have beaten Arizona if they would have hit just half of their free throws. Yeah, VCU is a good team but Utah has already beaten teams that are better than them at home. You also have to take the constant travel and altitude as negative factors for VCU. I’m not…[Read more]

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Ute Ladies Taking It to the Zags in the forum Basketball (Men) 8 months ago
Thanks for posting this. I had no idea. It’s hard to think that these events had nothing to do with Utah’s performance in last night’s game. Also hard to believe that this hasn’t been picked up by the national media yet.

I did. That 2nd QTR was ugly.

Pretty entertaining game so far. Utah is Up 23-17 after ending the 1st QTR on a 13-3 run. Gawd, I wish the MBB could play like this in front of hostile away crowds.

Here’s a good article on the regional: Utah isn’t going to be one of the favorites this postseason, but that isn’t abnormal
According to it though. Georgia is on hard times. The Bulldogs finished in last place in the recent SEC Gymnastics Championship.

Brother, I don’t know what to tell you. I’ve gone to the majority of home games since my family and I moved back to Utah in 2019 and I understand your point. My guess would be that the Utah fanbase has gotten infected with the football success and if the basketball team can’t mirror it, then I guess most casual fans, which I would submit is the…[Read more]

I wonder what his total buyout cost was. Smith’s buyout to be released from his Utah State contract was $1.1M. You have to imagine that Utah State learned from that and that the figure has to be higher than that.

Evidently Michigan thought that Dusty May was also a great coach because they just hired him last night from FAU.

Once again, Utah is getting little return on its MBB investment.

Capko is the same as White. A guy that’s never been a head coach at the collegiate level. Is Utah such a dumpster fire of a MBB program that we have to take chances on unproven coaches? I heard vía the grapevine that Randy Bennett reached out to the program after Krystkowiak was fired and didn’t even receive a call back. Bennett has been a…[Read more]

You know this for a fact or read it somewhere?

Stevens is at the top of my list but I can’t see a realistic scenario where he leaves Boston and comes to Utah.

Smith makes $1.85M a year. He’s not getting canned until the end of next season at rhe earliest, At that point, Utah would be on the hook to him for $3.7M.

My #1 choice would be Mark Few, but he’s never leaving Spokane no matter the inducement.

Dusty May – FAU Head Coach – currently making $1.25M.

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Utah State in the forum Basketball (Men) 8 months, 1 week ago
Yeah, but Sprinkle put that team together by himself. They said in the broadcast that when he signed on at Utah, the entire roster was gone. It just goes to show that if you have a guy that knows what he’s doing, it doesn’t take hslf a decade to make the tournament.

The last few seasons that Krystkowiak was here, he was getting paid over $3.5M a season and was in the Top 8 of highest paid coaches in the nation. That kind of money can buy you a proven winner and by proven winner I’m talking about a guy that has a long track record and has taken his teams on Deep NCAA runs. Smith has neither of those…[Read more]

No offense but you want a guy who’s never been a head coach at the collegiate level or has any sort of local ties? I’d rather hire a proven winner and there many out there that are getting paid much less than what Utah can afford.

The Aggies are taking It to TCU. Shocking that they’re doing this with a team composed of all new players. I guess good coaching counts for a lot.
