I agree with you that Smith is a better coach than K but that’s only one half of the equation. I’m decisively not impressed with Smith’s recruiting. When you look at the guys K brought to Utah, and I’m not even talking about the three NBA #1 draft picks, what Smith has brought in really pales in comparison. Now, if Smith could coach K’s talent,…[Read more]

If Smith, Lawson, and Worster are out for an extended period, Utah is going to be lucky to win another game this season. I mean, who are they going to beat? They still have a ton of difficult games ahead on the schedule. Right now, Utah’s PG is Hunter Erickson and that would make him the worst starting PG in the PAC by a mile.

Depends how they do during the rest of the season. If they have another swoon like last year they won’t even make the NIT. The big problem with this team is that they play very poorly away from home. If they can’t pick up some away victories, it’s going to be problematic to make any postseason tournament.

Maybe 10 years ago. Now? Whitt’s too old and would just be s placeholder HC. Plus he’s never really won big and the constant losing in bowl games has taken some of the shine off.

Well, Davion Smith is out. Hurt his ankle landing on a Wazzu player’s foot. If he’s out for an extended period, Utah’s season is cooked.

This team is so maddening. They just can’t seem to get over their road blues. The Utes are currently on track for a 20 point 1st half. Thank God that Wazzu isn’t much better.

I’m hearing that Harbaugh is going to be taking a lot of his Michigan staff with him to the Chargers. Elevating the OC might not even be an option.

If I was Michigan, I’d go for a legit, experienced, top coach…if you elevate the OC you’re rolling the dice. He can turn out to be like Ryan Day or Jimmy Lake…

It’s on all of my smart tvs, phone and tablet. As I said, I never asked for it…it just showed up on my account a couple of years ago and it’s worked out great.

Gotta start winning some of these away games. I most certainly would not take Wazzu for granted. They’re 9-1 at home and we’ve all seen Utah’s struggles on the road. In addition, Wazzu is only one game behind Utah in the PAC standings, so they have something to play for. If you want to look at how they’ve done against the same opponents, Wazzu…[Read more]

I get ESPN+, Hulu, and Disney+ included with my Verizon cellphone plan. The bundle just showed up a few years ago (I never requested it) and it’s never gone away.

Well Jim, Keita has been starting for what, three games? And he’s been averaging 3+ fouls and just 21 minutes in those games. I have to imagine his low minutes are due to quick foul trouble.

Serious question…what does Tarlac do besides take up space on the court? He doesn’t handle the ball well, doesn’t shoot from the floor well, doesn’t shoot free throws well, etc…there’s a reason why prior to the injuries to Worster and Lovering he got almost zero playing time. Am I missing something?

I second what Data said. If you an in-depth analysis of Keita’s floor time, it’s automatically limited because of his foul trouble. Witness the game against the Ducks, where he only played 18 minutes while Smith played 38.

ASU AD should follow him out the door. Hard to believe he still has a job after all the shenanigans under Herm Edwards.

Wow!!! I wanted to post the exact same thing but was afraid I would get an avalanche of downvotes. Personally, I think that Keita, although extremely physically gifted, still commits too many fouls and has a limited offensive game. I think Lovering also handles the ball better, provides some defensive upside due to his height, and spreads the…[Read more]

Yeah, me too…I couldn’t believe how the Utes essentially frittered away a double digit lead and had to hit a clutch basket to send it to OT.

The Utah WBB team just had beat #2 UCLA 94-81, the highest ranked opponent in school history. After tying the game essentially at the buzzer, Utah just obliterated UCLA in the OT period. Great job ladies!!!

I’m sure you know this Rick, but a lot of times, some of your best players come off the bench. If Worster and Lovering are around, neither Erickson not Tarlac really see much of the floor. Those two guys, Erickson and Tarlac, from my POV are massive liabilities anytime they see any game action and, at this point with a large sample size, I would…[Read more]
