Never expect consistency out of someone who is making an irrational argument

I’ve never met Harlan or Whittingham but it sure looks from 30,000 feet as if there is rot at the top of the program.
Let’s look at the luminaries who have beaten top 5 Head Coach and the GOAT of Utah Head Coaches:
Brent Brennan, career G5 HC in 1st year at Arizona (38-54, .413 career record)
Kenny Dillingham, 2nd year as head coach ever (11-11,…[Read more] -
2008 National Champ replied to the topic There is a real chance the Big 12 misses the playoff in the forum Football 3 days, 3 hours ago
It would certainly prove everything Utah fan has been saying about the Big 12 as far as national relevance and perceived level of competition if their champion was ranked behind the MW AND AAC.
I will say that the TV execs who “advise” the committee would be more likely to put 2 loss Colorado in because of the eyes Deion brings than any of Iowa…[Read more]

You’re right. Eddie George and Byron Hanspard. Talk about team overshadowing best individual player.
For everyone who believes that you need a 230 pound bruiser to run the ball, Troy Davis was 5’8, 185 and ran against stacked boxes since he was all Iowa State had.

His brother went to Iowa State also as a running back but couldn’t put up the same #’s. But then again, who could?

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Why I think Whitt will be back for one more year in the forum Football 3 days, 15 hours ago
I’m missing why a new OC working under Whitt would run an offense Scalley wants. More likely he will run the offense in the manner that the Head Coach wants.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic THE NEW PLAN! in the forum Football 3 days, 15 hours ago
He has the opportunity to reset the program. But if he’s just going to make cosmetic changes, I’d rather someone else took over. Because I don’t think any of us found 2024 to be up to his standard and I’m confident no one wants a repeat to happen in 2025.

I don’t think he actually cares about it being the proverbial “sunset.” Which we all know in sports rarely happens anyway. I just think he’d like to go out in some semblance of his own terms. And this shitnado 💩 🌪️ of a season ain’t it.

Yea, what I think will happen vs what I want/think is best for the program are definitely separate things. Maybe sweet Mr Eccles will donate a big chunk for NIL knowing it’s truly Kyle’s last rodeo. 🫰

If you know Kyle or especially knew his dad Fred, you know that’s a very proud family with lots of pride. Rightfully so. I truly believe the plan was to ride the Rising train to the CFP and then towards the sunset. But, as we all know, this season has gone horrifically sideways. Worse than even the most pessimistic Ute fan would have a…[Read more]

Whitts deal was a bad deal.
Craig Smith hire was royally messed up. Combined with the firing of Larry K who I felt should have just gone for another year. Nothing screamed immediacy in getting Craig Smith. His recent comments against the big12 were idiotic. Shows his general lack of long term foresight. Utah is in a good position to potentially…[Read more]

Yeah, I just don’t know what the reviewers are seeing that I’m not. O Line ability and/or effectiveness is a hill that I won’t die on. The obvious stuff I’ve got no problem identifying: i.e. guard pulls and runs past a defender who then tackles the RB for a 2 yard loss? I’m pretty confident who made the mistake.
Guard/Center combo block DT but…[Read more]

Don’t make a change because it might not get better? That’s the rallying cry heard right before every failure in history. Well, I suppose “watch this” and “hold my beer” count for some failures but they are just as ridiculous. No one ever succeeded by saying right now is as good as it can ever be.

I can’t evaluate O Linemen, especially the interior. I just don’t have that skillset. When I was scouting opponents while coaching in high school, I could see the end result of O Line mistakes but could not pick up in real time who was responsible.
So with that background, I never understood the slobbering over Keaton Bills. And I thought…[Read more]
