  • We don’t know when the injury happened. The torn meniscus, if the rumor is true, could have easily come on that last sack which was really ugly in real time.

  • He is eligible and as I read the quote from Whitt in the DNews, it’s not completely off the table for him to come back:

There is a possibility for Rising to take another medical redshirt and play an eighth year of college football.

Have Whittingham and Rising already had conversations about that?

“No, but there will be now that we’re in the sit…[Read more]

  • I definitely have more excitement for this weekend and it’s all because I now want to see how the kids rally and overcome everything that’s happened so far this year. That’s a hell of a lot better than spending all week hoping they don’t figure out a way to blow it again.

  • Both can be true. He’s just specifically referencing Cam’s toughness and people who have questioned that.

Thanks for letting me know Jim. Sounds more like a difference of opinion than that I said anything really bad.

I guess I’d like to see Rising’s last play be something other than not being able to avoid the rush and getting bent over in the 4th quarter at ASU. So even just a ceremonial goodbye where we could all express how much he’s meant to…[Read more]

  • Not sure if you spend any time at 247 but the UteZone writers are openly mocking Whitt’s injury news policy in damn near every article I read. Those guys (and gals) are almost as big of homers for Utah football as the DNews is for the parochial school so it’s not just us on here who are saying enough’s enough.

  • I doubt Whitt would do it but I’m seeing a parallel to what Harbaugh went through around 2020 at Michigan. He was underperforming expectations and close to being fired. The hammer came down and he kept his job under condition that he take a pay cut (I believe it was incentive laden but could be wrong) and overhaul his staff.
    2021 he not only…[Read more]

Yeah, the “Ludwig’s offense is too complex” theory seems to have been borne from comments Whitt has made. We hear so often about individual players that they don’t know the playbook so that’s why they aren’t playing.

I think the reason Rising is able to run it so well is the time he was afforded in 2019 when he got to sit in the booth during…[Read more]

If I’ve truly said something offensive but don’t know what it was, how will I learn?

  • 2008 National Champ replied to the topic OnlyU/Ghost Thoughts in the forum Football 1 month ago

Of course I’m making inferences because I’m not part of the team. But no one can deny that the bulk of the excitement prior to 2023 was based on having Rising running the same Ludwig offense as the previous two seasons and Kuithe leading the other skill players as his favourite weapon. I’m not going to relitigate 2023 but from my 30,000 foot…[Read more]

I’m missing the low blow that I apparently made?

In soccer when a player gets injured, the other team kicks the ball back to them once play resumes. It’s called sportsmanship. In MLB, they routinely stop play to celebrate records. Or put a retiring player into the field for half and inning so that the manager can take him out and the home…[Read more]

Thanks for all your input 👻
You think there’s any validity to the “Isaac is likely going to transfer due to how poorly our coaching staff (mainly Whitt and Lud) have handled the QB situation each week.”

  • 2008 National Champ replied to the topic Snake bitten in the forum Football 1 month ago

    don’t be mean 🙂

  • key words being “we went away”. The interesting thing to me is that Ludwig called the ASU game exactly like I said above. Or Rising checked into those types of plays. Either way, there were a lot of quick passes that just needed better execution.

  • It’s not a players only meeting if it is being reported back to the coaches. That would only further divide the team if they thought their words could be held against them.

  • Is OC Ludwig or someone in local sports media? I’m outside of Phoenix so I don’t always get the references.

  • Sometimes I wonder if we are all watching the same games. Because the conclusions that come out of them are so completely different. Someone the other day likened the Utah offense the first half of the Baylor game to a Ferrari. And all I could think of was that 13 of the 23 points were created by the defense.

  • They already have. Plus they got a 4 star last year, and are in on another this year if he hasn’t already committed. Oregon is well stocked at QB which is why I don’t think that would be a good place for Wilson to go should he move on.

Oregon is a school that doesn’t get themselves a starter and then stop recruiting the position because it…[Read more]

  • If you want the other team to stop blitzing, all you have to do is burn them a couple of times. Identify the likely blitzer pre-snap and call for a hot read in the spot he vacated. Call plays designed to take advantage of an overaggressive defense. Quick passes to the edges to force the D to quit loading the box. In fact, if you want a master…[Read more]

Selfishly, I want Rising to go out in style. Kind of like those kids games where they bring in a kid in a wheelchair and everyone gets out of the way so that he can score a TD. Everyone is in on it, everyone cheers but no one takes it seriously.

If you send him in before the game is over but he can’t influence the outcome, he can have his…[Read more]
