The Miami Ute

  • Sometimes I wonder if we are all watching the same games. Because the conclusions that come out of them are so completely different. Someone the other day likened the Utah offense the first half of the Baylor game to a Ferrari. And all I could think of was that 13 of the 23 points were created by the defense.

  • They already have. Plus they got a 4 star last year, and are in on another this year if he hasn’t already committed. Oregon is well stocked at QB which is why I don’t think that would be a good place for Wilson to go should he move on.

Oregon is a school that doesn’t get themselves a starter and then stop recruiting the position because it…[Read more]

  • If you want the other team to stop blitzing, all you have to do is burn them a couple of times. Identify the likely blitzer pre-snap and call for a hot read in the spot he vacated. Call plays designed to take advantage of an overaggressive defense. Quick passes to the edges to force the D to quit loading the box. In fact, if you want a master…[Read more]

  • Selfishly, I want Rising to go out in style. Kind of like those kids games where they bring in a kid in a wheelchair and everyone gets out of the way so that he can score a TD. Everyone is in on it, everyone cheers but no one takes it seriously.

If you send him in before the game is over but he can’t influence the outcome, he can have his…[Read more]

  • I think they already had one. Whether that results in further stratification of the team or a new focus will probably be evidenced the first time they try to respond to adversity.

Other’s have said it better than I so I’m not trying to be profound, but what we are seeing right now is the worst case scenario of tying your fortunes to one…[Read more]

  • It’s not ludicrous. I do believe that the talent is there to still accomplish everything the team wanted this season which is to get to the CCG and play their way into the playoff. But it’s going to require what should have been done prior to the USU game, and absolutely should have been done in 2023, which is tailor the damn offense for the…[Read more]

  • Saban’s greatness – other than leaving Miami for Alabama at exactly the right time – was in surrounding himself with accomplished people who were not interested in lifetime positions. Every year, half his staff took promotions elsewhere and he brought in proven coaches looking to restart their careers or up and comers hungry to prove themselves…[Read more]

  • Tuttle Part Deux

  • I disagree. The second the head coach starts listening to fans on how to run his team, he’s done. You pay the guy 7 MM per to know better than that.

  • My hope is he sits out until the BYU game and comes back for a last hooray.

Nope. Let him walk with the other seniors before Iowa State. Give him a couple of plays in the 2nd quarter so that he can walk off the field to thunderous applause for everything he did for the program. And let him ride off into the sunset on Whitt’s Harley.

    The last…[Read more]

  • Oregon has Dante Moore holding a clipboard and prepping for next year (which is what Wilson should have doing this year in a functional program). Anyone going there is going to have a battle on their hands. Starting for a bad Utah still provides more exposure than sitting somewhere else.

  • Another aspect of this (regardless if the above post is true or not) is the Wilson’s seeing how Zach was handled with the Jets. He isn’t blameless of course but seeing another one of your sons go through another baffling toxic quarterback situation that possibly stunts growth, and how it’s being handled from the top down, would make any parent…[Read more]

  • Based on the current circumstances, I’d be happy for you to take him. If Utah is no longer a place that is going to put its players in the best chance to succeed, I’d rather they go elsewhere to get that chance.

I want Whitt to get himself out of this mess. But he won’t be able to do it unless he completely overhauls his staff and that doesn’t…[Read more]

  • Jim, you just made the critic’s point about Ludwig. If his offense is so difficult that only one person can run it effectively, he’s not a great coach. A great coach gets the maximum out of all of his players. He is adaptable with his scheme(s) so that when he is forced to use a different option at the position, they can still maximize their…[Read more]

  • Ghost has been the better source for how things are in the locker room. He was the first of our “insiders” to point out how unhappy Jackson was last season.

OnlyU tends to be a little on the positive spin side which is great for pumping us up

Both are great sources and the slants may come from who it is they are getting their info from.

  • Hopefully we can hang on to Isaac. Based on the comments from Nashville in another post, that sounds like it could be in doubt.

Welcome, brother. College football is wild. Which is why we love the highs and keep putting ourselves through misery. You guys won 5 games last season and ended the year on a 5 game losing. Now you’re 1 or 2 wins away from top 10 with basically the exact same team. Remarkable and very admirable. I can really respect a team like that which sticks…[Read more]

    Amen, Miami.

Totally agree, Tony. Since when is the player (in this case, one that is obviously injured) in charge of making decisions on who plays. This is why the ASU loss is totally on the coaching staff.

Ever since Baylor, it was a back and forth with talk about the doctor’s making the call, and he was ‘close’ to being ready. Where were the doctors on…[Read more]

And the continual trend (from last year) as well. Injuries. Dumani and Keenan Johnson for the season. Last week no Reid and O’Toole yet again. Tanuvasa out. Fotu out. Just maddening.
