The Miami Ute

  • I’m not trying to get you to 6-6 but after losing to the parochial school, Colorado and then Iowa State you think they’ll go across the country on a short holiday week and beat UCF? I suppose getting bowl eligible would be something to play for but you’d think the team would have packed it in at point

  • If you can’t be positive with the news of us getting our field general back, being 4-1 ranked #16 and all of our goals still obtainable, I can’t help ya.

  • seems like only games played in Tempe, on a Friday night, in October, with the temps above 85 degrees at kickoff, when Utah is coming off a loss and a bye while ASU is coming off a home win would be relevant for the data set in question 🙂

  • The boost Cam gives is pretty significant. For the offense, defense, fans etc. He’s the alpha and it shows by everyone’s energy. I would say toss-up if Isaac was starting. I’m not overlooking ASU but if Cam is Cam, I say Utah by at least 10.

Interesting. I’ve always thought of Whitt’s best defenses more like monster trucks that just slowly stomp the life out of the other teams while smashing every available surface beyond repair.

But it is definitely a thing of beauty when the D is flipping the field and scoring points on their own so I’ll cosign on Ferrari defense.

He came back because it was his best chance to get to the NFL. Playing at less than 100% doesn’t put anything better on tape than what he had shown pre-Penn State.

None of us knows how healthy Rising is. At the same time, let’s not pretend that his only motivation is to get Utah a championship or that he only plays because of his love for his…[Read more]

    Ferrari offense against Baylor?

5 play 20 yard drive, Punt
    4 play 56 yard, TD
1 play 3 yard drive after turnover, TD
    10 play 74 drive, FG
5 play 30 yard drive, Punt
3 play 1 yard drive, Punt
    Defensive TD on blocked kick

28 plays 184 yards with Rising at QB. 13 of 23 points earned by the defense.

  • It just feels, and felt at the time, so incredibly shortsighted. You’ve got a 7th year senior and an incoming freshman with the only thing in-between being a 3rd year player that the head coach told reporters multiple times the previous season had not learned the playbook.

And this coming off a 4 year gap where you got 2 starts out of the 5 HS…[Read more]

kinda feels like when someone starts the sentence “with all due respect” because they think that allows them to say disrespectful things.

  • The QB is also someone Utah offered out of the portal last offseason. One has to wonder how much the decision to name Rising the starter no matter what played into him choosing ASU, or any of the other QB’s Utah might have wanted?

If you look at it from outside Utah fandom, 2024 Utah should have been an attractive landing spot for a RS…[Read more]

  • and Skattebo has another 200 yards receiving while Bernard has.,, 6. 30 more carries, 14 more receptions. 824 total yards v Bernard’s 553. Average only matters if touches are roughly equivalent.

  • The same schools that set up the NCAA and allowed it to become the disgrace it is will be in charge of setting up whatever new entity is dreamed up. I daresay that will be more of the same

  • every coach wants to convince their team that they are being overlooked. even Saban would do it.

But you shouldn’t need a loss to get your team to believe in your message. And at this point in his career, Whitt should have a plan for every situation because he’s experienced them all.

  • it would be nice if after 20 years of being the head coach, he didn’t need to get into this position to thrive though.

  • If Cam is already back when we play ISU in SLC I’d be very confident in us winning.

I’m willing to bust on OnlyU when he’s wrong but you also have to look at the source and realize that he’s evaluating things from inside the silo. So it’s natural that when he errs, it’s on the positive side. The team always looks good when they are practicing against themselves. It isn’t until they actually get to try things out against an…[Read more]

  • Jeanty goes around 215 and Jordan was in the 210 range so they weren’t really small backs, just on the shorter side.

To your point though, one of the toughest backs to bring down while Utah was in the PAC was Miles Gaskin. Played at 5’9 and around 195. Averaged 1300 yards a year and never needed to be taken out for a short yardage back. The…[Read more]

“I love this team. I don’t really like it, but I love it. We just got to keep working. We have a lot of games to look forward to, ASU this week, and we got to come out with a win.” BK

  • There is that component also but I was just referring to the utility in going for it on fourth down.

Ludwig has been an OC for over 20 years and his patterns are very well established. The other team still has to be able to stop his offense and having a good idea of what he is going to call in any situation is only half the battle. Penn State,…[Read more]

  • There’s absolutely stuff I don’t like about the landscape but to go as far to say need or reason to watch is very extreme. I listened to Bernard and Kuithe after practice. They both got me pumped for Friday. There’s a lot of mess in college football but there’s also still a lot of good. Much of this has to do with attitude. Wherever your focus is…[Read more]
