I’m nowhere near a Ludwig defender. I just don’t find that scenario to be outside the bounds of what you can expect out of 90% of OC’s.

With a more experienced QB in the game, perhaps there’s a hot tag or read option in that situation. But any call he makes on 2nd and 10 is going to be safe to try to get to 3rd and manageable.

Then we’ll boat race them and their 128/133 ranked pass defense through the air.

That’s not a Ludwig issue. 3rd and 7 is converted at a much higher percentage than 3rd and 10 so most coordinators will call something safe to try to get 3 or 4 yards in the hopes that there’s a missed tackle to get 7 or 8 out of it.

Oklahoma State lost their best rusher and All Big12 linebacker Collin Oliver two weeks ago. Pretty significant. He currently leads the conference in numerous defensive categories for active players.

Scalley has gone away from having his LB’s shoot the gaps so they are making their first contact after the RB/QB has already gained a couple of yards. In theory, it limits the big play but it also limits the game changing hits in the backfield we were used to with Hansen, C. Barton, Bernard, Lloyd and Sewell.
