The fine is ultimately against the University, since that is who has a relationship with the Big 12 conference. Harlan is just acting as the University representative. If Utah felt his comments were a fireable offense and got rid of him, the University would still be on the hook for the fine.

My personal rule when on another team’s board is that I’m there to talk about their school and will discuss my team only in whatever context they bring up. Just the way I was brought up: never go somewhere empty handed, always thank your host, and don’t pee on someone else’s rug.

Well, Utah did make sure they didn’t sign the 100 year blood oath or whatever was required of all the other schools upon entering. Probably doesn’t stop them from paying the fine but neither side is endearing themself to the other.

Arizona State, Colorado, parochial school.,, 3 schools not much was expected of who are pretty much in control of the conference race at this point. Give credit where it’s due because not many outside of their own fanbases would have predicted it with a straight face
