I don’t need to spare you at all. Universities lost the court battle. They should 100% be allowed to sell their image. The current system when it comes to morals is infinitely better than what it was in the past.
The finger wagging moral argument of ending poverty over a kid getting paid also doesn’t matter to me. It is just virtue sig…[Read more]

The facilities also took private donations to pay for those. You are over simplifying my statement to fit your own argument.
Utah has always been very smart with their money. Compared to like Arizona who takes private donations and then overspends the athletic budget. Or California who never took donations but went into the red to pay for…[Read more]

I know this is like a popular trend right now I just don’t see the point. We were fine with it 20-30 years ago when the University pocketed the money. What changed? A kid getting the money instead somehow makes it different?
It just feels like virtue signaling at this point.
I will always be fine with a kid getting his bag. I do agree with p…[Read more]

I know you are trying to make a moral point I just wonder why it didn’t exist 20 or 30 years ago when it was the school making the money on the bodies of kids?
A claim to morals in a morally devoid industry never really never resonates for me.

Thanks for the reply but not sure it answers my questions.
To be brief – can players still accept NIL money once they are considered employees of the University?

It is really hard to not overlook his rushing numbers. I also think UNM did no favors to Dampier. I think it partially explains the TD/INT ratio.

He is four inches taller than Wilson who is actually 2’6”

At this point, any QB we can get on the roster would be a positive.

Can someone explain how or if NIL will be different once these players (in all sports) become employees of the University? Doesn’t that mean they will then become paid by the school they attend and with that, can they still take NIL funds coming from booster or can they only receive payment from the school?
Or does this even matter?

58 players threw for at least 2,500 pass yards in ‘24. 36 players ran for at least 1,000 yards in ‘24. Only 1 player did. Dampier. 2,768 pass yds, 1,166 rush yds 31 total TDs. Beck is a great QB coach. This will be their 2nd year together. So I expect a lot of improvement in his throw game.

It’s also bad business move. We all know Utah develops DBs as good as any anyone. He’d make ten times the bag being thrown at him with the nfl contract he’ll get with the development from Shaw and Scalley. shortsighted decision

highlandute7 replied to the topic From Trib’s Jason Batacao regarding Calhoun in the forum Football 5 months ago
This is the problem with Utah. We don’t have any big boosters now that can compete with all the other money being thrown around. The only way BYU would be able to double the offer (and I’m not saying they doubled it) would be them getting backing from those that are funding their bball team.
And we won’t be able to compete with any of the other…[Read more]

“According to a source close to Cam Calhoun’s situation, he was offered “nearly double” to enter the transfer portal before Tuesday. Calhoun then approached Utes multiple times to raise their offer, but they wouldn’t budge on a new financial package.”
Literally days before he was recruiting guys to Utah and hyping up the guys who were posting abo…[Read more]

It’s what I do mostly. You just end up not being able to talk about college athletics with your buddies. The other con is you really take losing seasons harder. The little time invested watching Utah football became just a stressful annoyance more than entertainment.
Chat made it easier to just complain. But then you are told you are a bad f…[Read more]

Announcing you’re entering the transfer portal and have 6 offers within the hour is something. Pretty obvious what’s been happening.
