thirtyfour-thirtyone replied to the topic Singer says Cam will play in the forum Football 3 months ago
Cam will take all the run plays, and Wilson will handle all the passing plays. OSU will never figure it out.
I hope the hole in is finger is securely healed this weekend. As much as we have been bagging on the coaching staff for their handling of QB injuries, I am sure they have done what they think is best for the team this week, and I am…[Read more]

Some dude on Reddit yesterday said Cam has not been taking reps in practice. Pretty rock solid source, no?
Anyway, if that is the case, I am excited to see what the team can do with Wilson at quarterback. I hope they set him up with some easy throws, and he makes those throws. I suspect we will also find out if we can line up and run over USU.…[Read more]

thirtyfour-thirtyone replied to the topic Backup qb situation in the forum Football 3 months, 1 week ago
Wilson apparently throws the ball very accurately in practice, and did at times in the two games. He just seems to have some first game or two as a true freshman jitters. It looked like he was trying to make big plays, and passed up some easy options to throw into coverage, or got confused and just whiffed on a couple throws. Hopefully he’ll…[Read more]

thirtyfour-thirtyone replied to the topic Moving on from last night, what does everyone hope to see next week? in the forum Football 3 months, 3 weeks ago
Beyond the crappy injuries, it’s hard to complain too much after a 49-0 win, with the backup quarterback entering the game in the second quarter.
The offense would be more effective if the line could get a little more push, especially in short-yardage situations. Mike Mitchel and Andrews also need to hold on to the ball. I would guess that…[Read more]

One thing I am wondering about is how does this affect medical/hardship redshirts. They continue keep those decisions behind closed doors, like they are naming a new pope or something.

Beyond the possible addition of Uconn to our conference, there is just not much new information floating around to discuss. It’s the calm before the storm.

Yeah, looking back, I have to wonder how much of Utah’s current situation hinges on that PI call on the 2-pt conversion vs OSU in 2008. Whew.

thirtyfour-thirtyone replied to the topic What are your "This is Utah Football" moments? in the forum Football 4 months ago
During Ron McBride’s tenure, Utah football had the reputation of basically being the Iowa of the WAC/Mountain West. The bowl game against USC (won 10-6) was a great example of one of the most “Utah” football games I have seen. Things changed after Urban arrived, but even then, there was the 3-0 game to end the 2003 season. There have been ups…[Read more]

I would imagine that if Rising stays healthy, we will see him pick up a few key 3rd and 4th downs with his feet this year.

thirtyfour-thirtyone replied to the topic Utah vs SUU TV Viewing in the forum Football 4 months ago
What is “Big 12 Now?” An app, or some special flavor of ESPN+ or something?
I looooved the Pac-12 network, but it really did limit cable/streaming service options. ESPN+ and a bunch of normal channels will certainly be easier to come by on TV. ESPN+ is also where most out of market NHL games are anyway.
Also, why does CBS Sports still exist.…[Read more]

That seems fair. I am happy to move some pressure and hype to K-State for a bit. I hope we get to test out their sophomore quarterback in the championship game.

Alex Smith seems to be in a category of his own. I wonder who will be next, and if current coaches are eligible?
Here are a few ideas:
*Eric Weddle
Then other options, with stars for the guys I think are lock to go sooner rather than later:
*Steveon Smith Sr.
Jordan Gross
Kevin Dyson
*Luther Ellis
Chris K? He was an impactful player, but…[Read more] -

The athletic predicts the teams that will participate in he playoff: prediction article
Two things stuck out to me:
1) Utah is projected in as the the Big-12 champion, and listed as having a 45% chance overall of making the playoff (20-something percent chance of winning the Big-12).
2) Boise State is their prediction for the G-5 team. Have…[Read more]

If we some how get to “and then there were three,” with Utah still involved, that would be a tremendous success. Maybe Brett Yormark is who Larry Scott thought he was. What a crazy ride. This season has an apocalyptic feel to it.

thirtyfour-thirtyone replied to the topic Seeing talk about FSU and Clemson being courted by the Big 12. in the forum Football 5 months, 1 week ago
This “report” also says that the B1G already said no to FSU and Clemson due to the AAU thing, and that the SEC also said no for reasons that are less clear (probably already having Florida and SC). Is this a steaming pile of nonsense? Who knows? There are also hints that Yormark has assembled some huge pot of Private Equity $ to basically…[Read more]

Eh, the dust has not settled yet, but this roster should not be a complete embarrassment. That seems pretty good considering the level of turnover. I was worried we were going to be filling our roster out with 5 more Rily Battins for a minute there, but this is workable. It will probably not be a dumpster fire.
