ParticipantI watched from home. The pass that sailed through the hands of Mason Madsen as he was looking at the coach instead of the game pretty much summed it up. The victory was there for the taking, and we couldn’t quite close the deal. WVU got the upper hand at the end, and didn’t let it go.

ParticipantWell, I am glad they are successfully tanking this year. The last two years seem like a bit of a waste.
I’m much more excited for the Mammoths, and it warms my heart to see everyone chugging their beer on the jumbotron in honor of Ryan Smith.

ParticipantI like UHC and Mammoth in that order. Either way, I would like to hear a lot more Mastodon in the arena soundtrack.
The should just cut right to the chase and change the “Outlaws” option to “The Porter Rockwells.”

ParticipantHe doesn’t seem to meet the requirements, but the NCAA seems to be handing out eligibility like candy these days, so here’s to hoping.

ParticipantThe guy was reasonably successful in his first year running Beck’s offense. Maybe we get some other hot-shot QB in the portal. Maybe we don’t. I would feel pretty good either way if we have Dampier on the roster. This is the closest we could possibly get at this point to continuity on the offensive side of the ball (in a good way, anyway). Hopefully we can get someone else to come in too, and compete for the starting spot and/or back him up.
I’m less concerned about his height and other measurables, given that he has shown an ability to actually play division 1 FBS football.

ParticipantMy biggest hope is that Beck will be able to do whatever is required to move the ball and score points with the personnel available to him. Hopefully he can also help QBs develop. We will see.

ParticipantI hear you, but sometimes it can go well (see Taysom Hill, Tebow, etc.). Our lord and savior Urban Myer was very good at coming up with ways to manufacture success through things like this. Obviously these sort of “hybrid” situations look great when they work, and terrible when they don’t, and they haven’t worked well at Utah for a few years now.
I do have some
faithunsubstantiated hope that Beck will do what it takes to make something like this work, like keep it unpredictable, and use it in a way that either makes sense situationally, or really catches opposing teams off-guard. We will see. -

ParticipantEven Oregon would be horrified by that court.

Participant“insert himself into the offensive equation:”
Kyle will apply for a COVID year of eligibility, and make himself the starting fullback. His calves would repel tackles.

ParticipantLud’s offense required the quarterback to use pre-snap motions and reads to figure out what the defense was doing, and run the play (or change the play) accordingly. He then had to be on the same page with the OL. WR, RB, etc. about reads during the play to get the ball to the right place. Cam did that pretty well, and the results were good (even great at times). Other guys on the roster struggled with that system. When you “simplify” Lud’s system to make it easier for a freshman QB to run, it really sucks. It really is just a few really boring plays, that are easy for the defense to read. That’s why we sucked when we did that (Wilson’s indecisiveness and inability to hit an open 5 yard pass didn’t help). That’s also why Bottari was more effective than Wilson. He could at least run the offense.
We said all year that we would be in good shape with even a half decent offense. Well, we just imported something that meets or exceeds that description from New Mexico. I’m cautiously optimistic that our offense will be at least mediocre next year, and that will be good enough. At least Dampier will run around and do entertaining stuff.
