Thank you for this forum Tony.

I was so happy to find this forum after years of frequenting the ute fans, sl trib and block U sites.

There was a period of time after those to blogs died a slow death and the trib put up a pay wall on their sites coupled with Whitt taking away media access, I felt like I was in football talk purgatory.

I really appreciate the work you do on this site and giving is die hard ute fans a place to read others opinions about our favorite football team.

      Couldn’t agree more with this.
I have read an overwhelming amount of comments on this board over the last several years about how awful the 8:00 PM start times are(which I unequivocally agree with).
Now I see mostly complaints about how awful these 1:00-1:30 kick times are.
The exposure for the program is so much better with these kick times.
Better for the recruiting, better for the fans, better for the players(IMO).
I agree with the assertion it is what college football is made for, nothing better than a Saturday afternoon(with the pops) or whatever your viewing situation looks like.

Not sure what that has to do with anything as that wasn’t close to the numbers cam put up.

To answer the question I would have to also know how many td’s were thrown and rushing yards and yes as well.

It seems you and I disagree on who is more at fault and that’s fine, QB is the position that has the most power to overcome a poor performance in other areas and therefore I can understand the criticism.

I feel still that cams performance was adequate and the defense sucked it big time.

It’s not so much letting cam off the hook, the defense was to blame for this loss not the offense.

Cam could have played better in a few situations but was pretty spectacular for most of the game. Does he have responsibility in the loss…. absolutely, I just feel the defense was a much bigger let down is all.

If I am ranking the reasons for poor performance it looks like this.

      1. Defense-in particular LB’s

      2. Scalley- stop calling zone coverage we do not have the personnel, mind boggling blitzes at inappropriate times.

      3. Ludwig-inside zone on 3rd and six twice…..really, give tavion the ball at the goal line after 4-5 straight runs I could see he was gassed for Christ’s sake.

      4. Cam- needs to go through his progressions better and not lock onto his first read.

The turnovers were definitely not great but my feeling is Cam still played very well despite them.

The pick never happens if a TE catches a perfectly thrown ball two plays earlier which is why I would put more emphasis on that drop than on the pick.

We probably should have run TT on that fumble play but Ludwig reverted back to his old self and got cute instead of doing what is working.

Anyway you slice it, the game was rough and we are not as good as the fans had hoped.

I agree the defense was as bad as any I’ve seen, disagree about any of our past backs taking those runs to the house, big gains sure but JW had a whole other level of speed.

I always want the team to win, but the fun is the best part of the game.

I don’t mean to be offensive but if you are old enough you will remember the door mat that that Utah was for so many years. You should be jumping for joy with how far this program has come, doing so with lesser athletes.

It certainly hurts every time we come up short in a big game, I personally am able to understand how much less overall talent we have and how much we overachieve on a consistent basis.

In my life Utah has come so far and I prefer to celebrate those victories, instead of lamenting the short comings.

I certainly respect everyone’s opinion and don’t think my opinion is above others.

I just think some on this board are not able to put a loss in perspective and jump to conclusions that this team is bad because we lost a close game against a far more talented team.

The goals for the season have not changed and everything is still in play, not likely we run the table through the conference since it hasn’t happened in the P12 era. If we do we will make the CFP since no 1 loss P5 champion has been excluded. The conference championship and rose bowl/CFP are still available and the best we can hope for is that a very talented Utah team improves and plays up to its full potential.

Really happy I am not the only one who saw Marcus for what he was, best safety in team history and it isn’t all that close in my mind.

he took half the field away on each snap and would be an absolute nightmare next to bishop this season.

IMO most underrated player in the history of Utah football, had season tickets since 1998 and never have seen a safety close to his coverage abilities and we have had some sensational talent at that position.

no disrespect to Eric weddle that dude may be the all around best athlete we have ever had and an absolute badass on and off the field.
