I would have liked Jake to return, but I can understand him leaving if he’s getting that much money. I certainly wouldn’t want Utah to pay him that much.

I think ultimately he will get fewer minutes at Clemson than he would have at Utah.

This is basically what I mean when I say I don’t want Utah to be one of these teams that tries to spend their way to relevance. If BYU wants to do that, be my guest. It’s not a good look for any program, much less one that exists (on paper at least) to support a church’s mission.

Okonkwo’s stats may not blow anyone away, but the guy is a rebound beast. Last year he had a number of games when he grabbed more than 10 boards. A couple games he grabbed 15 or 16.

That is sorely needed in today’s game. He won’t be a major scoring option, but he will clean up the glass like a champ.

The latest intel I’ve heard is that Andre probably won’t be on the staff this year. But if true, he could still join sometime else in the future.

I agree with you on being grateful to departing players. I will always be appreciative of players who put on the Utah jersey and do their best. That includes The Shark.

We were able to snag Terrence Brown Jr pretty damn fast, so that indicates at least some talent in selling the opportunities Utah can offer.

I wouldn’t get too concerned yet about incoming transfers. We have one but there are still a lot of targets Utah is engaging with, and some of those will be coming.

Yeah it’s tough to come to a conclusion on whether Larry was a good coach or not. If you look at his record, it looks pretty good. Most seasons he won 20+ games, but for some reason some of those weren’t good enough for a tourney bid.

He was one of the top scorers in the portal, so it’s probably safe to assume that most of the programs that contacted him offered.

In general, probably most teams that contact players in the portal do so with an offer in mind.
