      Fantastic hire!

This truly feels like a revolution for the program to return to its place among the elites in college basketball.

Frankly, I couldn’t care less what BYU is doing or how much money they are spending on their program.

What I care about is Utah getting the right guys in place, accumulating new economic support for the program and trusting the experts up there to decide how to best compete. They don’t need our input on how to do that.

I get where you’re coming from and I agree that there needs to be substantially more economic support than there has been – but I’m not gonna waste one second of my time judging the Runnin Utes based on how they compare to BYU. And I recommend you don’t either.

Let’s just trust our guys (other than Harlan) to do whatever is best for the program. I’m confident they will do just that.

I would say KD is priority #1 this coming off season. It’s clear that he offers the most upside and is a very talented player.

Thankfully, he’s getting more time now that Smith is gone – and if they hire Jensen for HC I can’t see how KD could possibly leave with such incredible excitement coming in like that. Especially, as it’s been said again and again, because he grew up a massive Runnin Utes fan.

If the coaching situation improves, as there’s every reason to believe it will, and he’s satisfied NIL wise, which there’s every reason to believe he will be, there will be no danger of losing KD to another program.

For most of us, this opportunity seems like it should be a no brainer for Jensen – returning to his alma mater and being the top guy, one that fans and donors are yearning for.

I’m not saying he is reluctant to take the job, but the longer the process drags out, the more it’s possible that he isn’t sure about it.

He’s been in the coaching game a long time. What is it about being in the NBA that, to him, is so much better than being a college coach? NBA assistant or college head coach… it seems perfectly clear which is better. Yet, at least going back to the 2021 hiring search, Jensen doesn’t seem to see it that way.

It’s just puzzling to me why AJ doesn’t seem more interested or excited about the prospect of running the Utes program. We’ve never really even heard him even talk about it.

Again, I’m not saying he won’t take the job or that I have some inside info about him not taking the job. I’m just saying that up to the current date, he’s never really indicated any desire to coach at the college level, and seems to value assistant gigs in the NBA over HC gigs in college.

Doesn’t he understand that being successful as a college coach can still get him to the NBA as a head coach?

Just some random ramblings on my impressions of Mr Jensen up to the present date.

The ultimate tell of a troll! Upvoting themselves because they know others won’t.

      That’s exactly right.

Yes, Utah will need to offer more green to attract talent, and they will. But, as I said in another post, I’m not sure I even want to see Utah throwing a s**t load of money at one single blue chip player, like BYU and so many others have. Because it’s my opinion that you’ll almost never get an adequate ROI for that money. Watch, next season BYU will probably be about as good as they are this year and everyone will wonder if it was really worth it giving all that money to a hyped up high schooler who was only there for five months.

Look at all those schools that did it last off-season that are mediocre (Rutgers) to flat out bad (Washington) this year. I’d rather see Utah spread that money around multiple players.

It’s been a not-so-secret fact that if Jensen is hired to be head coach the whales will open their piggy banks.

Not only that, but how is Utah headed for 10-14 seasons? The XII plays 20-game league schedules, not 24-game schedules. It wouldn’t be overall, either. Every season we play at least 30 games.

I think the cognitive abilities of Cali Man is unquestionably in decline.

But he’s right! What the Runnin Utes need to play big time basketball isn’t Alex Jensen or a good coach, it’s a really elite and experienced HD TV – uh, maybe to put in the JMHC, or the coach’s office? Or maybe the locker room so our guys can video game before and after the games?

We’re so lucky Cali Man showed up to point this out! Where would we be without such sage advice?
