UCF will eventually get into one of the power 5 conferences, might as well get some games against the Knights before they get accustomed to playing a slate of tougher teams.

I hope WSU wins too! Then gives the Utes the Arizona treatment! In all seriousness, should WSU trip up in the Apple Cup which they do all the time. I’ll be a temporary big Ute fan when you play the Pooches.

I don’t see that the Pac-12 is expanding unless they can get UT. The conference has tried a few times and Texas rejected the offers. The Pac-12 is the Pac-12 for the next few decades at least future. Texas will not leave for a another conference unless they can keep their own separate revenue streams and get a preferential deal. USC, amongst others blocked that idea. Just do not see the fundamentals changing.

The Cougars would have to run the table from here out AND have 3 of the 4 undefeateds loose (Alabama would likely have to remain undefeated) for WSU to have a chance at getting into the Playoff. I just don’t see WSU getting bumped up high enough with any win to get them in contention. Right now I would just like to see them get into the Rose Bowl against whomever. Or have a chance to beat UCF in one of the Big 6 bowls. As a 30+ year WSU Coug I just can’t get too worked up about any of it until after the Apple Cup. I have seen too many great seasons come to a crashing halt against those scurvy Dawgs.

Good luck Utes for the remainder of your regular schedule.
      Go Cougs!

He is certainly the best thing to happen to WSU football in a very long time! Hopefully WSU can keep him till he retires.

And the Cougars are a much different team since you played them before too. Better hope WSU doesn’t jump up big on Utah early, could be a very steep hill for the Utes to climb.

But all in fun, I think should the WSU/Utah rematch happen it can’t fail but to be an interesting entertaining game.

      sweetgrass,

A WSU Cougar here! From the university first to adopt the mascot….1919, the other two were latecomers and thus rank impostors 🙂 (BYU in 1923 and University of Houston in 1927). But yes UW has always had the edge in the Apple Cup. Just hoping my Cougs can finally beat the Dawgs badly when there is so much on the line.

Leach has not struck me as a guy who is willing to put up with much BS. And at this point the BYU job would be a vast step down from his current position, plus he is much too much of a wild card for BYU. He would pose the danger of having those other “Cougs” be too much fun to watch, and the athletic department over there might try to muzzle him in the press conferences, which would be truly a crying shame 🙂 If he wants to take up a challenge job I could see him going for one of the teams that needs help in the SEC or Big12. I don’t think he needs the cache of a big program just needs to feel appreciated for what he does. Hopefully WSU can keep him happy.
