I’m assuming the reason they aren’t playing Rose is to preserve his medical redshirt.

Whittingham is a top 10 coach coaching at a top 30 school, and the only reason we are a top 30 school is because of him and Urban Meyer. Before those 2 coaching hires we were barely a top 50 program.

The things that Whittingham has accomplished at Utah are amazing.  He took Mountain West players and established a culture of winning in the Pac12. Then he took low end Pac12 recruits and made Utah a consistent contender in the South. Now we’re actually starting to recruit in the top half of the league because of his consistency, and we have a young team with ridiculous talent. This team is already better than I expected, and they are going to be a Pac12 contender next year…after losing 12 players to the NFL draft in 2 years!

Now, about the play calling. We are ahead late in the game and we get 8 or 9 yards on a first down run. Of course OSU thinks we’re going to run, but we should run, and we should pick it up. And we should pick it up the next play, and the next. That’s on the players, not the coach. The O-line improved a lot this game, but they are still young. That’s what happens when you are starting this many freshmen. The thing is, when you have this many talented freshmen it should be cause for optimism, not dissatisfaction in coaching. We are young because we lost all our players to the NFL! And then we recruited well! These are good things!

I also want to make a point about Harding.  I’ve heard a lot people stating that we’ve been bad on the line for years. That’s just not true. He’s consistently produced elite run blocking and decent to good pass protection. Our offensive line was truly elite just 4 years ago, and people have completely forgotten because of one and a half bad years.  It’s college football, that can happen with a little bad luck. Utah has put its last 3 starting running backs in the league. They were all good players, but that doesn’t happen without good line play. Joe Williams straight up doesn’t make it to the league without semi-truck sized gaps to run through. He was held hella fast, but not great after contract. Moss last year was the exception, not the rule.

I think the over/under line on Zack Moss missed tackles will be 20.

He’s one of the Utah greats, but we do have Blackmon now, and he’s got 2 picks in his first 2 games at safety. I think he’s going to have a big year. Utah just keeps churning them out.

I believe Travis Wilson had the #1 QBR after 4 weeks in 2015, and the guy next to me at the 5th game was calling for him to be benched. I hope we can all appreciate what Tyler Huntley is doing. He’s been very efficient, and he’s making great decisions. I hope he caps off his senior year in style.

USC has definitely found their quarterback. It should be a good game.

I’m wondering how you are defining “talent.” You could argue that Washington has more RAW talent based solely on recruiting, but Utah has more talent this year.

PFF grades will favor Utah’s talent. Advanced efficiency stats will favor Utah’s talent. The NFL draft will favor Utah’s talent. The eye test will favor Utah’s talent.

Washington could still win. They are a talented and well coached team, but they do not have more talent than this Utah team.

I wouldn’t take any 5 star guy over these formerly 3 star players:

      Leki Fotu

      Bradlee Anae

      Julian Blackmon

      Tyler Huntley

      Zack Moss

      Terrell Burgess

      Devin Lloyd

      Francis Bernard

So, you’re wishing a young man a lifetime of injury because he made a commitment video? That seems like a disproportionately harsh reaction.

That guy over there gave me a weird look. I hope his dog dies and he can never walk again.

This logic is flawed for a few reasons.

      1) Current wins are more valuable than past wins. A quality win in week 4 is better than a quality win in week 1.

      2) USC is a bigger brand nationally than BYU, so Utah will get more credit for beating a ranked USC than a ranked BYU. Also, with a win, USC is definitely ranked when they play Utah.

      3) This is the most important point. Utah shares 6 common opponents with USC and only 1 with BYU (not counting the USC vs BYU game). If USC wins, it increases the value of 6 other games on Utah’s schedule. This is significant, especially considering that it also improves the overall view of the Pac-12.

If you’re a Utah fan, USC is the logical choice.

Rivals and 247 both say they did. What are your sources?
