  • From hardest to easiest:
Tier 1 (national title hopes): USC, Washington
Tier 2 (PAC-12 title hopes): Stanford
Tier 3 (hopes of being ranked): Oregon, WSU, UCLA, Colorado
Tier 4 (hopes of a bowl): Arizona, ASU, BYU
Tier 5 (crappy OOC team): SJSU, FCS team
I get that BYU has hopes of more than “just a bowl” but that’s because their schedule…[Read more]

Did they not just see what happened to Harvey Langi?
Had Langi stayed at Utah, I have no doubt in my mind he is drafted as a LB.

This. I don’t know if we run as much as Urban. Urban has it right, in my opinion. His 200/200 goal is the right idea in my opinion (200 yards rushing, 200 yards passing).

But, we our run game will be very similar to last year’s, just less of it. Instead of 30 passes and 40 rushes, I’d bet we see 40-50 passes and 25-35 rushes.

  • Utah replied to the topic Keeping it vanilla. in the forum Football 7 years, 4 months ago

    I say yes and no.

Many offense has a core 10-15 plays. I say you have to be perfect at those. So, game one is those 15 plays over and over and over. So, it may be vanilla, but there should be some explosive plays (I’d say 5-8) that you run a couple times each. So, it’s vanilla but feels big.

Then, vs FBYU-P you throw in another 10 plays that…[Read more]

  • That will make it really tough for them to get anything going. Our front seven will be incredible this year. Not too many teams will be able to get their run game going vs us.

I think he does a good job of trying to make BYU relevant. He’s dead wrong, but a good job anyways. I’ll post my rebuttal over the next few weeks.

Fitts started until he was hurt. Actually, I think they did the five man front a lot early until Fitts was injured.

    Nice write up. Very fair.

    Heres what I’d tell you:

I’m glad your DL is so good. As you know, our OL is  somewhat inexperienced and it will be nice to be tested early.

Heres what I’d say about the OL. First, Harding may be the best OL coach in the country. What he has done with recruiting and development is outstanding. 4 guys to the NFL?…[Read more]

  • I’d say that we are a long ways from worrying about this.

First, we have to sign Tuttle (which is put at 99%).

Second, we will have Tuttle, Shelley and Huntley next spring. Huntley will be a JR. If he wins the job, Tuttle RS’s, then competes for the job as a sophomore. That would be ideal.

    Also, Shelley is very underrated.

    Next spring will…[Read more]

Took his spread from Urban. Has instilled some Oregon, Wash St, Texas Tech influences but the base is what Urban ran at Utah/currently runs.

    I’m so happy.
We started running last May 2016. It took me 17 mins to do one mile. We’ve been running on average two times a week since then and slowly building. We’ve only ran for 25 mins a day but starting in May 15, we’ve been ramping it up. Today, I ran for 45 mins straight and 5 miles.
    Pure hell. Lol.
After June 26, I’ll cut back to 25…[Read more]

  • It’s a good one. 6-7 wins is a good season for Utah this fall. We play 4 NFL QB’s and Stanford, Oregon and Colorado on top of that. No California or OSU either (although I think OSU will be a lot better than expected this year. 6 wins wouldn’t shock me at all. Gary is a great coach).

7 wins is 3-0 OOC, 2-0 vs Arizona schools and 2-5 vs…[Read more]
