UtahFanSir started the topic On the Furlong piece about Utah's offense this season in contrast to 2018… in the forum Football 5 years, 3 months ago
To quote the article: “From an outsider’s perspective, the rigidity of the system had athletes solely focused on their own part of the offense and not the cohesive identity of the team as a whole. The result was a relatively unstructured offense early on that failed to maximize its talent, particularly an offense that featured an asset in running…[Read more]

UtahFanSir replied to the topic 55 days away, any word on LaColby Tucker??? in the forum Football 5 years, 4 months ago
Speaking of lineman recruiting, has anyone got any information beyond the typical sources on the 4* Colorado HS recruit Andrew Gentry? The kid is LDS and plans on going on a mission first.
Utah and half the country has offered him. Looks like Michigan, BYU and others get a mention, Utah not so much. He made an unofficial visit to Utah a year…[Read more]

Utah successfull out competed Incarnate Word, New Mexico State and no less than two service academies for this OLB!

Thank you, enjoyed your post. I do have a comment about recruiting, where you give KW a solid B. We must be willing to entertain the notion that KW is actually securing the best players possible for Utah. By that I mean, Utah is not USC or Oregon (yet) in the Pac-12 or a national perennial top 10 program where the best all want to go. The program,…[Read more]

They may need to be “pumped” to make it competitive, not taking anything away from TDS. At this point, Tyler Huntley and Zach Moss have a supreme taste for the rivalry, which it is still. The Hallendale Trio will not disappoint. And I see an whole lot of other Utah players who will show up for this one and play like madmen.

UtahFanSir replied to the topic Darren Jones to Snow College in the forum Football 5 years, 6 months ago
I agree totally. He is in Utah, and Snow has been a good pipeline to the Utes. He could not qualify academically for this season, and if he is diligent, he will get it done at Snow. Being close, allows him to watch the Utes play. He can come up to SLC for games, and I am sure the coaches would be happy to see him in the stands. I think the guy…[Read more]

We were headed there in September. I’m in shock. The rafters from the 13th century and 19th century, I think are burning. The structure may collapse. The building was undergoing renovation. Incredible shame.

UtahFanSir replied to the topic Receiver corp and coach Holliday in the forum Football 5 years, 8 months ago
This issue has plagued Utah for years, many years. I was at the Vegas Bowl game when Utah played Boise State. Terrance Cain was the QB. He threw decent catchable passes. But the number of critical drops by Utah WRs in that game was shocking. Nobody wanted to catch the football.

UtahFanSir replied to the topic Receiver corp and coach Holliday in the forum Football 5 years, 8 months ago
Yeah, it seems like the receivers all too frequently are allergic to prolate spheriod shaped leather.
We see stats on completion rates for quarter backs. Are there also published reception rates for receivers? Are the non catches categorized into classes, like 1) clearly over thrown, 2) hit finger tips, 3) hit hands, 4) stripped?
I would think…[Read more]

I was reading an article on linebackers in one of the papers and saw a note quoting KW on Donovan Thompson. KW was saying that they want to get him back, and made it seem like that was possible.
Anyone know anything that is not confidencial to help flesh this out. What happened? -

Best to let the investigation find these coaches innocent or guilt or complicit.
Pace’s son I thought committed to Arizona and Sean Miller. So likely he does not want to hear folks opine on the program, the head coach or his son’s decision.

The Salt Lake segment of the Wasatch fault has not broken in 1,000 years and some believe it is overdue. The Bingham segment has not broken for 2,000 years. Most of these fault segments have a periodicity of 500 years, perhaps longer. Geologic studies show that at least 22 surface-faulting earthquakes have occurred on the Wasatch fault during the…[Read more]

UtahFanSir replied to the topic Question about our basketball team. in the forum Basketball (Men) 5 years, 9 months ago
I think K3 is a good coach. The second half season rescue you mention is absolutely happening, and has been for years. The lack of program continuity because of player turnover is killing momentum for Utah basketball. It requires half a season for the parts K3 & Co. assembles to come together as a team. Pre- and post-Delon, Jakob and Justin, Utah…[Read more]

Utah is playing terrific basketball right now.
Nice run by the Utes halfway in the second half to essentially win. Utes did leave a lot of points on the floor with poor FT shooting and missed layups. Plus a few air balls.
Great D however. JJ becoming a force in the key. Nice halftime adjustments by K3 to restore the inside game.
PVD was on…[Read more]
