UtahFanSir replied to the topic i am ok if "just a regular team" becomes the motto for the rest of the season in the forum Football 6 years, 1 month ago
No one disputes that USC has higher ranked athletes than Utah as recruits. What the coaches do with that talent is what counts in the end, not the number of stars affixed to a name coming out of high school. There is absolutely no question that Utah’s coaching staff does more with less than most teams in the country. Certainly, Utah outperforms SC…[Read more]

The reasoning “concerned” has goes like this. Issac and Matthew Van Komen, both essentially centers from the same class and from Utah, were each considering Utah. BUT, if one committed to Utah, the other was likely to go elsewhere. They were not both going to Utah. And both kids had Gonzaga listed in their top choices. Someone knows what happened,…[Read more]

Good article. Nice to see Lynn writing about the Utes.
Will be most interesting to watch the Utes this coming season. Lots of talent, little experience.

You are right. There are other options. And yes, you can effectively remove yourself completely from politics.

I see this site and UF.N as a community. There is more to the community than sports. In fact, sports are typically time limited charged events with an annual cycle. Allowing the community to prosper means the community grows stronger. That is my take.

It is the off season. Besides, based on my read when there is sports news, folks post sports news and talk about it. Overwise, the great issues of our day are discussed. I mean, what is going on around us everyday is important to us as a community, and folks need to decompress over it. I absolutely get that. And I learn stuff that is important in…[Read more]

If you include arena size and size for nearby city populations, Utah may look even better.

Drew Lisk, hands down. He was spot on accurate. Smart. Tough. He did everything asked of him. No mistakes. No showboating. Reminded me of an Utah kid who made a name for himself at WSU.

A line between two points, I see. But to me it looks like it has taken 7 years to get back to where the Utes were after the Sugar Bowl, despite the jump in conference.
I say there is nothing, absolutely nothing, like winning to attract talent. Even home-grown talent, a handful of whom went to other P5 schools. Talent wants to play for winners.…[Read more]

Utah is about 1/3 way through the season. I agree that some of the issues we see and don’t like may not be corrected or cleaned up. For example, I fear Utah will remain one of most penalized teams in the conference if what we have witnessed to date continues. Looks like it could be part of the team’s personality.
You have got to know that the…[Read more]

Anyone else expecting a breakout game tomorrow for the Utes against SJSU? I am. I think the guys clean up the penalties, like cut them in half.
The offensive line was solid last week, and this week, they begin to open some massive holes for Zach Moss. If Zach will work on his timing, he will scamper for big gains. The running game has to develop…[Read more] -

Troy Taylor took a very good FCS offense and made it even better. He was offensive co-coordinator. You’re right, we all wonder the same thing and will find out in due course.
Can he take an anemic offense and make it a lot better. I hope he can. I trust he will. And the improvement could be even bigger since the gap is likewise large.
The proof…[Read more]

Okay. I was traveling home from Driggs, ID (there two weeks including seeing the eclipse) via SLC. A college buddy & wife who I meet in married student housing at the U, were celebrating his 50th wedding anniversary at the Cottonwood Club. Had to go for that one. So Saturday morning we begin our travel back to Bend, OR, where we live. We have…[Read more]
