  • A lot of football to play. Crazy thing is ASU could still end up winning the South. Having watched Utah football for many years I have zero expectations. Utah should of course beat up UofA and UC, but Utah’s been here before. I have a feeling it will come down to a must win for Utah to beat CU. Go Utes!

  • Yogi has good insight at times, but also goes off on head scratching tangents. Maybe he’s not on the screen as much doing other gigs with the P12 Network fading away. Maybe I don’t see him as much, but it does seem Yogi has backed way off on supporting Utah as he’s done in the past since the 2019 season when he was hyping up Utah big time until…[Read more]

  • Agree. Utes are going to need an effective pass game against Oregon. Oregon will crowd the line hoping to slow Utah’s run game. IMO, this year’s Utah offense is more balanced and overall better than the 2019 offense.

Oregon is a big game for Rising in the air and on the ground. He will be the difference maker for Utah to win. Taking care of UofA…[Read more]

  • the P12 clowns in the booth. Have any of you had luck synching Kall 700 with the TV broadcast? TIA.

  • Arizona’s offense is flat out horrible. That Cal game was nothing more than a glorified pillow fight. UofA continues to improve and hung in there with UW and USC. Other than UO, Cats have not played a more stubborn, physical defense or physical offense than Utah. This game should be over at half time. Would like to see Rising get more reps in the…[Read more]

  • Chip gets two more years at least. UCLA should be good next year. Still a lot of football left. UCLA has a good shot to win out and go to a bowl game at 8-4 (6-3 p12). That’s a damn good season ending up 2nd in the South.
If Utah and ASU completely meltdown, UCLA could still win the South. ASU is in a bit of a funk losing their last two games so…[Read more]

  • UCLA did a solid job on offense against Utah’s defense. Garbers kid is going to be a great QB. Brilliant move by KW taking the ball first and marching down for the score. Has to feel good for the first time in his career since 2008 he can rely on his offense with confidence while the defense heals and develops.
Defense right now is very young and…[Read more]

  • A lot to say about SE sticking with the program. As fans we see a small part of the journey these kids are on. The rewards of SE’s team contribution, leadership, commitment to the team will be there for him long after this small window of time playing football is gone. Kids got a bright future in whatever he does.

  • The coaches have been through a lot as well. Coaches are asked to be the rock for the team and deal with all they’ve been through on their own time and get the team prepared to play football. Before the ASU win, KW looked run down. He looks and sounds way better now even after the OS loss. He knew that OS loss was a couple of maybe bad play calls…[Read more]

  • Utah needs to fix the punt team execution. The Rising punt play is not going to work when the Utes are 4th and 10 deep in their own territory. Could see it again in similar scenarios with a lot of fake options with Rising back there.

Agree, 4th down defense was shakey. UCLA had no choice playing catch up close to mid field especially with Utah…[Read more]

Agreed, KW seeing the ASU score puts his head down going into were the hunted team now where the mental block of victory comes into play. Would be nice to see the Utes play a game for once as a champion and take control. Again, it’s right in front of them, seize the moment.

  • Agree. ST play altogether is a completer mess. What exactly is the punt return doing? 3-4 Utah players get through the line than stop and stand in front of the shield and watch the punter kick the ball. I guess they then block the punter and shield players while the rest of the team tries to block as Covey calls a fair catch.

Man, goes to show there’a a lot more to it then moving over to a new team and thinking you’re going to step right in. The coaches are figuring out as well how important system knowledge, family and culture of the team factor in. Utah does an excellent job of giving these kids important life skills outside of football and making them feel they are…[Read more]

  • Very young team getting great experience. Biggest player talent liability on a solid defense next year is LB with Lloyd gone. Reid and Sewell are nice media walk on stories. Reid has the heart, head, and size, but (experience) is very slow for a D1 LB in the open field and gets blocked inside a lot. Sewell has all the same attributes with speed,…[Read more]

  • Smith is an excellent coach. Utes got beat at their own game. Blocked punt, red zone stops, Lloyd out of the game, a handful of plays were the difference. Was not the Ute’s night and hats off to OS, they could very well win the North.

  • Agree. Utes need to keep their passionate energy with no let downs. Utes are in position to take control over the P12 South with a win today especially if UCLA loses. Utes have been here before, can they keep the same energy and edge?

OS is a well coached team I hope the Utes take seriously and start out fast. Win the turnover margin. Utes should be able to throw and likely run on OS. Utah’s defense biggest challenge this week on the road. OS Oline and Utah’s Dline will be a good battle.

  • Trailgoat replied to the topic Coach of the year in the forum Football 3 years ago

The Brewer decision was the right move as insurance making sure Utah had a healthy QB to play the season. Brewer was a one and done stop gap player considering Rising’s inexperience and unknown timeline for recovery or not. Rising had labrum surgery on his throwing shoulder and those who have been through shoulder surgery know the dynamics of…[Read more]

Weather is a ZERO factor. RES needs to be crazy loud. Utah has to play a near perfect game to beat ASU. No turnovers, no big passes or runs from JD. Oline’s biggest challenge this week. Get it done Utes!

  • Yup, Oline needs to push so Utes can run the ball and grind clock. Only way to defend London is to limit his time on the field. OSU held London every play, the refs got tired of throwing flags and let it play out.
