Trailgoat started the topic Craig Smith is a very good coach. Next step recruiting. in the forum Basketball (Men) 2 years, 11 months ago
Defense is solid. His offense is getting guys open shots. Utes had a lot of mid-range open looks they could not hit. The remaining games will be live and die by three point shots. Crazy how dudes 6’6” and taller miss so many shots two feet away from the basket at this level. Uncharateristic missed free throws last night did Utah in over the…[Read more]

Trailgoat replied to the topic Kayvon Thibodeaux was no. 1 on every single draft board you saw in the forum Pac-12 2 years, 11 months ago
Utes did a solid job blocking Thibodeaux and Sewell in both games against Oregon. Glad to see the cute Sewell Utah-Oregon media circus come to an end with Nephi gone. The cheap shot, body slamming on the ground plays by Oregon Sewell was not as entertaining as his missed tackles and getting slapped to the ground by Rising. Awesome work by…[Read more]

Love the off-season discussions. Ramble warning! As Utah’s #1 CB on the other side of CPIII, Broughton’s played seven games as a CB counting the odd 2020 season and has not played a down of football since the BYU game when he was injured. It will be almost a full year before he lines up at CB against Florida who I am guessing goes right at him…[Read more]

CPIII has a solid NFL future. Expect to see CPIII on lock down against every teams best WR next season. Other than CPIII, I have very little confidence in other current CBs. Broughton had his moments, but really has limited experience and is coming off a very early season ending injury. Not sold on Marks or Latu as every down CBs. Secondary depth…[Read more]

Trailgoat replied to the topic Transfer portal needs and potential prospects in the forum Football 2 years, 11 months ago
Solid breakdown. Utah is in a unique position with the transfer portal targeting kids in a few key positions they need. Fan guess, KW and the coaches are being methodical and patient with who they go after and bring in. Cultural fit vs self-interest athlete looking for a pay day or a quick fix to improve his draft status (Insert Travis Dye/USC…[Read more]

Both Ganther and Ellis are more than qualified and probably most importantly understand the Utah family culture. Utah’s family culture is a huge advantage in the P12 where head coaches and staff come and go every year. Bringing in guys that have lived the Utah way and know the program makes for a smoother transition. Thinking with KW and Ludwig…[Read more]

Mark T. Nielsen, Advanced Human Anatomy. One of those professors loving what he does inspiring students to work hard and learn in a very time consuming, challenging course.

Trailgoat replied to the topic Next Years LBs in the forum Football 2 years, 11 months ago
Reid and Furey are solid back-ups that will get a lot of PT. Reid reminds me of Cody Barton in his first couple seasons at LB at Utah. Raw, tough, nose for the ball instincts. Improved every year at Utah including his sideline to sideline speed and LB pass rush. Worked his butt off and ends up with a $3 million contract-4 years in the NFL with…[Read more]

Trailgoat started the topic Landon Morris and Logan Kendall in the forum Football 2 years, 11 months ago
Interested to see how these two transfer kids add to Ludwigs offense. Ute offense is going to be crazy good. Losing Covey, Ford, Fotheringham, and Bam of course is a bummer especially from the leadership side. That said, Ludwig and the offensive coaches wasted no time bringing in new guys. Kendall is a solid replacement for Fotheringham especially…[Read more]

Trailgoat replied to the topic An uneducated prediction as to where Ute players are drafted in the forum Football 2 years, 11 months ago
Yeah, that makes sense for him declare now. I forgot Tafuna was a return mission kid.
Some coach like Belachek will give Covey a shot. Would not be surprised if the Rams or Cardinals picked up Covey.

Appreciate the interactive post to get us one day closer to Spring Ball :)!
IMO, highly doubt Tafuna or Sewell get drafted. From a fans perspective, somewhat surprised Tafuna opted for the NFL. Much more to it I’m sure. Tafuna and Sewell were both great college level players. Both lack the strength, size and speed for their positions to be…[Read more]

Trailgoat replied to the topic I'd love for Utah to have a good basketball program again. I decided to attend.. in the forum Basketball (Men) 2 years, 11 months ago
Chris Hill did many amazing things for Utah athletics, managing the Mens BB program was not one of them. The 1998 NCAA Championship loss was hard on RM and his health. I was attending Utah during Ricks five best years at Utah through the 1998 NCAA championship game. Giacolleti was a complete joke followed by Boylen who was a ding bat head coach.…[Read more]

Kiel McDonald going to USC is not that big of a loss. Dude is trying to better his career, good for him. Recruiting RB has never been a problem for Utah. More concerning will be if KW does not fill the position in the next couple months.

Trailgoat replied to the topic This year vis a vis 2004 and 2008. in the forum Football 2 years, 12 months ago
Agree, 2008 was an amazing season. 2004 was my favorite season mainly because it was Utah’s first breakout season. My years of going to Utah football games in college were walking up at half time sitting on the 40 yard line. My first Utah football game was Utah losing to Idaho in the early 90s. Coach McBride built the foundation.
2021 was…[Read more]

Interested to see how Furey, Reynolds, Reid, and Josh Calvert develop. Have to think 1-2 of these guys enter the portal with the LB talent coming in. Hopefully not.
IMO, biggest concern is starters and depth at CB and NB. SS is solid (Aware injuries decimated the DB group) Bernard playing both ways in Utah’s biggest game tells me there is a…[Read more]

Man, crazy times coming to college football. Don’t blame any of them one bit. Window of opportunity is very small and does not last long with all the risk. The way it’s playing out this is not going to end well for college football.

Trailgoat replied to the topic By far the most annoying thing about the rose bowl in the forum Football 3 years ago
Agree. Punt team and Kick-off team are a mess. From a time management perspective, the punter miss contributed to tOSU having the ball for a quick score. The missed pick in the end zone by Reid was another one of those game changing plays. 4th down TD on the fake slant go route for the TD was a huge play for tOSU. gave up momentum in key…[Read more]

I was able to hit the RB with my Honey…wow! Other than the loss, the trip was amazing. Beautiful weather, amazing setting, Ute fans everywhere. So this kid is handed a bag of cash by the highest bidder. At some point the NFL is going to say bye bye to the NCAA and lift the must be out of high school to play in the NFL agreement. Not sure how the three year rule works, but I’m guessing it came from the NCAA to preserve the revenue stream colleges rely on from football keeping kids in…[Read more]
