with Landar Barton? His stock is through the roof and he is not shy about checking out some big time schools as he should.

Well spoken, smart dude, good insight. Super stoked to have him on the mic with Mitchell, and Riley. Was so fun to watch Sly in the Sugar Bowl get into it with the Alabama OLineman during the coin flip, “I am going to kill you” said the bama player, Sly the badass that he his, stands tall and walks the dude down in his face as the bama player…[Read more]

Trailgoat started the topic Coaching Up during the big games in the forum Football 3 years, 5 months ago
Exciting season ahead. With all the focus on each position groups, high profile players, and all the pre-season hype, what does KW and coaching staff need to do better in big game situations? How does Utah establish the game time edge in the close games against the higher level teams with good coaches.
Peterson was KWs nemesis in close games out…[Read more] -

Trailgoat replied to the topic After spring ball – Ludwig said that a transfer or two on the Oline was possible in the forum Football 3 years, 6 months ago
The Ute OLine depth chart has been somewhat of mystery. Utes success will be determined how well the Utah Oline performs against the crowded pressure of the USC, UO, ASU, UW defense. Make all the excuses of a short season, first game etc., Utah’s Oline was no match for USC’s Dline last season. Hopefully the new Frosh and Sophs step it up this…[Read more]

Trailgoat started the topic Off-season banter. Killing time until football starts. in the forum Football 3 years, 7 months ago
Utes could be really good this season. All the pieces are in place. All eyes on the Oline. Optimistic BB will see a turn around next season.
Time for Harlan to make another hard decision and cut the baseball program. Watching the CWS sure sheds light on Utah having no business fielding a baseball program, a complete waste of money especially…[Read more] -

Very interesting and good work it seems for these players. Not sure this is the correct title for the article. That said, Tackle football participation at the youth and H.S level overall continues to significantly decline. Interestingly, NFL and NCAA football attendance has been declining was as well (other factors in play here of course). Sadly,…[Read more]

Trailgoat replied to the topic Honest opinion from the Ducks on the Utes in the forum Football 3 years, 7 months ago
Duck and Ute guys did a solid job outlining the Ute Oline being a major concern now and over the past several years. Some brutal dialogue regarding the missed block on Rising’s injury among other things. Until Utah’s Oline can perform against USC, ASU, and OU, these games are sure losses. Only hope is if some of the Frosh from last season improve…[Read more]

Ian Martinez has NBA potential at best. He has not proven much at the college level yet other than some brief moments of athleticism. In fairness, he’s just starting college ball. Martinez will need to put on at least 20 pounds and become a much better outside shooter and ball handler to play in the NBA. The daddy-ball thing may also be a red flag…[Read more]

Trailgoat started the topic QB, RB, WRs, Defense won't be the weak spot on this team. Oline needs to step up in the forum Football 3 years, 8 months ago
and IMO, this is a make or break year for Harding. He has to be in the same shoes as Holiday was if the Oline does not perform this year. We hear every year how solid the Oline is going to be and they get man handeled by the upper level teams in the P12.
As mentioned several times in this forum, there was at least four pass plays a defender was…[Read more] -
Trailgoat replied to the topic I want to talk football in the forum Football 3 years, 9 months ago
Utah is not beating USC in LA. As much as I would love to see it happen, Utah does not have the offensive fire power to compete with USC’s athletes. USC has a solid plan to slow down Utah’s offense. It will be much of the same eight USC defenders on the line of scrimmage pushing Utah’s Oline around, stopping the run and giving the Ute QB less than…[Read more]

Trailgoat replied to the topic Martinez in the transfer portal in the forum Basketball (Men) 3 years, 9 months ago
Getting rid of daddy ball is a good thing. IMHO, totally okay with losing Martinez and his coach/dad as well. Another example of bad coaching decision by LK hiring the father of a kid, dumb move. How this was considered okay at the college level is a head scratcher. I presume the Martinez transfer portal announcement is listed as a packaged…[Read more]

Will add, player pushes the Transfer Portal button he/she immediately loses all scholarship/financial aid support on the spot. With so many kids in the transfer portal market, is the transfer portal set up in Craiglist type of search format with a variety of filter options for coaches to go shopping for players?

Trailgoat replied to the topic Any News Coming Out of Football Spring Practice in the forum Football 3 years, 9 months ago
Nice to get first hand reports on QB performance. The KW coaches speak on QB indecision has become silly. I guess it’s an old school thing to act like there is a tight battle for QB with no announcement until game time to keep the first team on the schedule guessing. Clearly it was not as close as KW lead on. Cheering for Rising to have a solid…[Read more]

Trailgoat replied to the topic Plummer too now in the forum Basketball (Men) 3 years, 9 months ago
Plummer at this point at the end of his BB career probably needs some stability. Kids dealt with the same transfer BS and crappy team performance over his career at Utah. Don’t blame him at all for wanting to have at least one year in a stable program not in rebuild mode. Hope he has a great year next season where ever he ends up. He was fun to…[Read more]
