Is IW athletic and durable enough to run Beck’s true RPO scheme where the QB actually is a threat to run not the phony BS Ludwig tried to run sometimes where everyone knew the QB is a zero run threat. Dampier was the leading rusher in 5 of 12 of UNM games. Hard to visualize IW running for 800-1000 yards in a season.

  • Yeah, was being mostly a smart ass. Agree, that would never fly with KW’s situation. Gundy will tell OSU to pound sand and force OSU to fire him for his payout. The move seems as much as a PR, shaming move from OSU to Gundy. Either way, the move is interesting.

  • Casual watching interest for BSU, ASU, UO, SMU and Texas. BSU is a crazy story in the new B12 format. The Boise HC Daniels was hired mid-December last year after Andy Avalos was fired mid-season 2023 with a 17-5 conference record, 22-14 overall. Daniels has arguably the top Heisman candidate in Jeanty and a bye going into the CFP play-off…[Read more]

Scalley’s got a sweet, well paid gig as DC he’s mastered. He’s guaranteed the HC job at Utah when KW finally leaves. MS likely inherits a rebuild with the way the past two years have gone. Risky move MS going somewhere else if he flounders as a HC. Utah is his dream job so he’ll stick it out during KWs rehab tour. Good move to wait it out while K…[Read more]

  • KW allows the same offensive philosophy he’s had for 20 years. Utah’s been down this same OC road many times with the same results. Nothing changes until KW leaves, to think otherwise is a set up for recurring disappointment. Beck will do what he is told and if the offense sputters he’s the fall guy. Rinse and repeat.

  • I can understand why an up and coming OC in their right mind is not going to risk their career coaching under KW while he’s day to day on retirement plan trying to go out with a feel good season. KW’s track record with OCs spanning 20 years has to be a factor. The only OC basically keeping KW with a winning P12 record walked out the door mid…[Read more]

  • Fixing the out of Fall camp injury problem would be a good start.

  • Are we officially in off season entertainment mode? Wait, isn’t KW meeting with CR this week to determine if he wants to come back for year 8? Looking forward to episode #3 of KW and CR doing another Bad Moon Rising truck video announcing a comeback with IW, Huerd, and Rose laid up in the truck bed. This off season is going to be fun! Saw Mateer p…[Read more]

  • Good to end on a positive note. Stoked for Bottari. Could see him as a successful coach someday. Ahh yes. A tale of two tenured coaches, 5 QBs and a lame duck AD. Interesting how things play out over the next two weeks. IW was not managed well and may need a fresh start himself. Way more behind the scenes than we all know. Crazy KW and Ludwig…[Read more]

  • UCF’s Freshman QB is good. Well balanced offense. Utah’s defense has softened up since the BYU game giving up 80 points in the last two games. I expect the same on Friday when UCF gets an early lead. Weather should be nice and warm for a boat race :). Rewatched the ISU game for pure viewing punishment. Defense looks completely checked out. ISU QB…[Read more]

The three maybe four (Wilson tbd?) QB injuries needing surgery in the same season has to be a record. Never seen anything like it. Expect to see Huard, Wilson, and Rose head to the transfer portal on 12/9 or soon after.

  • Trailgoat replied to the topic Britain Covey in the forum NFL 1 month, 3 weeks ago

Borderline block in the back. Being engaged with the DB straight up first probably waived the flag from the ref. Covey seemed to let up at the right time. Not a new take, Covey has a very high football IQ. The past two years have shown more and more the significant impact he had on Utah football.

  • Trailgoat replied to the topic Whitt’s Decision in the forum Football 1 month, 3 weeks ago

Good one NC. Yeah, a lot of coach speak in yesterday’s routine, obligatory Q&A with the restrained local media. Not much talk about the next game. Have to think Friday’s game has the tone of a back yard Turkey bowl. Hope all the players on both sides have fun. BS KW’s decision is determined solely by doing what’s best for the team. A piece of the…[Read more]

  • Agree. Find a school with offensive stability. I’m sure he and his family are already on it. Kid’s been set up to fail by his HC and OC. No way he should been thrown into the situation as a true Frosh.

  • Could argue looking at KW’s 14 year record in the P12/B12 era, 21-22 seasons are somewhat of an anomaly. KW’s overall P12/B12 conference record is 63-54 (minus Covid). Utah’s 21-22 conference record is 15-3. Outside of the 21-22 seasons, Utah averages 4.6 conference, median 4 conference losses per season. Utah is 5-5 in bowl games with no bowl win…[Read more]

  • If we’re playing fortune teller based on KWs comments, then plan on Rising returning as Utahs QB next season if KW comes back for his redemption tour.

  • Program is a mess right now. Agree on fan support. Attended the TCU game, place was packed and fans going crazy. MUSS looks bigger every time I get to a home game. The BYU game looked even more crazy from the couch with the camera shaking. I expect more of the same Saturday. Looking forward to Scalley to add a fresh approach to an already solid…[Read more]

  • Utah had an overall losing conference record the first 8 years of playing in the P12. 2019 was the first year Utah got over the hump to an overall P12 winning record. Utah’s conference record the first 10 years in the P12 2011-2020 (counting covid year, 3-2) is 45-41. Makes sense KW dumped all his chips on Rising after the 2021 and 2022 P12 c…[Read more]

Agree. Team first. Never got into being a fan of coaches or players. I find the KW fan hysteria interesting especially looking at KW’s win-loss record over time. Hard to let go of the 21/22 seasons. Easy to see why KW obsessed over Rising considering the two conference championships and Rose Bowl appearances in 21/22 seasons the pinnacle of KW’s…[Read more]

Said it before. Leach was brilliant at making a complex system simple with plug and play WRs and QBs fitting his system. QBs we’re essentially the same skill set. His list of QBs he coached and QBs that went through the WSU system is impressive. Over the past 20 years under KW, Snoop-Erickson, Smith-Mcbride recruit, the QB position talent has b…[Read more]
