Don’t forget to mention Coach Dennis Erickson. I highly doubt any of the Florida kids blink at Utah without his recruiting work in Florida. The offensive recruiting has dropped off significantly since he departed.

Yup…Worried Fan Syndrome (WFS). UofA is completely out manned in the trenches and many other places against Utah. Utes have to stop fumbling and slow down Tate and JJ. 7 fumbles in the last four games. Being nit picky of course. Game outcome is all on Utah.

Of all games for an upset, this UofA game would be it. On paper, Utes should crush UofA. Tate is a wild card and playing to their potential, UofA can score points. All the pieces are in place if the Utes turn the ball over and pull one of their WTF magic tricks and not show up. Not saying it’s going to happen as UofA is a hot mess.

Rose Bowl win. Everything happening now up until the Rose Bowl or CFP is huge for the program. Utes need to finish these last three games strong.

USC appears to be the under performing game. If you told me 10 years ago losing to USC in LA was a WTF loss I would of spit up whiskey :).

One favorite play in UW game was Moss completely trucking the UW DB on the sidelines. He could of easily stepped out of bounds. UW player popped up grimmacing in pain walking back to the huddle. I am too dumb to know how to post the clip.
As the game goes on opposing players do not want to tackle him.

As Tyler Huntley said in the UW post game interview, “back to work”, the kid is a warrior. Natural leader very few athletes/people naturally have. His leadership is a huge under recognized contribution outside the team to Utah’s success. People are starting to notice.

Copy all of that. I did not know that game was on until stumbling on it in my couch-coach position. Interestingly the 15 secs of watching I caught clicking through channels was a zoom in on Mariner.

Along with the big time catches. BT, Ennis and Nacua are wicked good blockers. Watched a lot of off ball WR play when in camera view. WR group is solid and will be better next year. Only Simpkins and Vickers graduate. If the portal does not suck some players away, add in Vele and Covey with the TEs….Damn!

One of the top 5 cliche’s of why kids leave Utah for other schools. Utah pays the highest amount of all P12 teams on recruiting and hovers down at the bottom every year. Waaaay too many Utah kids leave for other programs.

Beating UW has many implications for the program. All the obvious, also recruiting.

Utes need to start bumping up the rankings. I get the 2-3 star player development spin. Program needs to be less cyclical and less dependent on the portal and second chance players. The current key skill players on offense were recruited by coaches no longer with…[Read more]

Perfect in the sense of win the turnover margin, less penalties than UW, and a solid game plan on defense. I do think Ludwig is better than Hamden. KW can head coach the field management and let Ludwig do his thing up in the box. I would hope KW stomps over to the refs before the game and sends a clear message about calling a clean-consistent game…[Read more]

All indications point to a Utah victory…no question. The one constant is coaching in these game scenarios. Good vs. Great coach is my only concern. If Utah is a top team, they need to win these games. Agree, this has all the makings of another Utah tight collar performance. This is a milestone game for KW’s tenure. KW says all the same things about preparing for these types of games, but has struggled to get his team to walk in with swagger and put a beat down on UW.

Petersen has owned KW mainly because of being out coached on defense against Utah’s weak offensive OCs. Ludwig is as good of an offensive coach as Petersen and Bush Hampton (his mini me from Boise State). Utah’s defense is waaay better now along with UWs offense not nearly as good as the last few years. Utah has hung in defending UW’s offense.…[Read more]
