Trailgoat replied to the topic Why isn't Solomon Enis targeted more? in the forum Football 5 years, 4 months ago
Regarding Kuthie…yeah, I find it entertaining how a kicker gets canned for missing a couple kicks yet a TE drops 1-2 passes every game and there is no accountability. I am sure it’s a depth situation where Kuthie in spite of his bad hands is still the best option. Agree, not putting a lot of stock on a wide-open pass play against FCS teams.…[Read more]

Trailgoat started the topic Huntley looking down field in the forum Football 5 years, 4 months ago
Being nitpicky coaching from the couch. May be exposed later against better teams. Huntley still seems to have a short fuse to abort looking down field for the tuck and run. Utah has had problems with athletic teams that can cover Utah WRs, put on some pressure and close fast. USC, ASU, and UW are going to man up on Utah’s receivers and make…[Read more]

Trailgoat replied to the topic Covey is NOT 100% in the forum Football 5 years, 4 months ago
Covey still seems to be the best/safest option with his catching ability. Of course breaking a big play is a bonus. Agree, on being a step or two behind his normal self. The knee brace can’t help. He’s still a huge threat in the open field.

Trailgoat started the topic Tired of all the Thompson, Dixon, Ennis hype. Thompson and Ennis have shown in the forum Football 5 years, 4 months ago
nothing on the field that teams are respecting. Dixon is legit. WRs are no question high level athletes. General critcism of Utah is stop the run = stopping Utah’s offense. Time for TH to step up and show he can run an offense and pass the ball. No more tuck and run with the eyes down when the first target is not open. If this team is going to…[Read more]

They in certain positions have legit players. Some of their offensive skill players would be starting at Utah.

Trailgoat replied to the topic USC Daniels – out for the season in the forum Football 5 years, 4 months ago
Bummer. Feel bad for the kid. He’s been working hard. As for Jack Sears..geez. This is the problem with the instant gratification sports generation. USC in their normal state would tell the kid, don’t let the screen door hit you in the ass on the way out! This is how far USC has fallen. I am sure Helton already made the call. Love how KWhitt says,…[Read more]

Utes will drop 50 on these guys. Would love to see JW and the other RBs carry the load cutting the rug in the next two games. Give Shelly some reps too!

Trailgoat replied to the topic Huntley vs Wilson in the forum Football 5 years, 4 months ago
In all fairness, ZW is not on a very good team. Not sure he would be any better on Utah considering the poor receiver development on Utah. IMO, Huntley is handicapped more by the lack of a passing supporting cast than his ability. Not really the WRs fault as they are excellent athletes. They are not getting coached up or developed.
TH can sling…[Read more]

P12 is done! Another team will need to go undefeated to be in the top 4. End of story.

Trailgoat started the topic Moss, Oline, and Defense were stellar. in the forum Football 5 years, 4 months ago
A lot of great first game stuff including game control and the best play in football, the victory formation. Great win. Class act by KW. Utes could of easily punched in the last TD. Interview with ZWs parents was a weird attempt by ESPN to appeal to the goony BYU fan base. The entire interview was so forced. Big elephant during the conversation…[Read more]

Trailgoat replied to the topic The Ute receivers are lickin their chops right now in the forum Football 5 years, 4 months ago
I find it interesting very little is said about the WR group other than the TEs, DS deep pass threat and Covey. Ute WR group is the biggest concern IMO. Other than Covey and DS, nobody else has much experience. Nacua seems to be a great leader and makes good plays which is awesome to have on the team.
Other than being “athletic” Ennis and…[Read more]

Trailgoat started the topic Preseason Hype and BYU game in the forum Football 5 years, 4 months ago
It’s been a fun preseason with all of the attention on Utah football. Not sure any of this means anything for future recruiting. Once the season starts it comes down to whether or not teams are true to form. I think we can all agree these predictions although fun rarely play out as predicted other than Alabama, Clemson, and a couple of…[Read more]

Trailgoat replied to the topic I'm afraid that our game on Thursday is going to look similar to this Florida ga in the forum Football 5 years, 4 months ago
If the Ute-BYU game is close then all the HYPE about Utah is just that. A P12 Champion caliber team should beat BYU by at least 2-3 touchdowns. Other than maybe TE, BYU is not even close to the talent level of Utah. If this game ends up close it tells me Utah is not nearly as good as advertised. BYU would be the worst team by far in the P12. The…[Read more]

Trailgoat replied to the topic Thought this was cool in the forum Football 5 years, 5 months ago
Nice find. WR is a big concern. Drops were a continued problem as is the blocking and athleticism of the WR group. Overall, IMO, the WR group is the least talented on the team compared to the other P12 schools. Not good when your WRs make your QB look bad. Upside is Ludwig will coach around this weakness. The upper P12 teams give the Ute outside…[Read more]

Trailgoat replied to the topic Comparing the 2019 Team to the Sugar Bowl Team in the forum Football 5 years, 5 months ago
Minus the record and complete choke job losses (won’t reference games to minimize flashback pain). In terms of raw NFL talent, 2016 roster is a better comparison.

Trailgoat started the topic Can KW break down some of the barriers? in the forum Football 5 years, 6 months ago
I am not drinking the KA just yet. Having Moss and Huntley back is a major positive. There is amazing talent coming back on defense. To win a P12 Championship, Utah needs smart QB play and some sort of miracle improvement at WR. Utah football program is getting a lot of national hype right now. The returning talent and high expectations does not…[Read more]

Trailgoat replied to the topic ESPN chose Dixon as the most dynamic game-breaker for Utah. Who's your pick? in the forum Football 5 years, 9 months ago
Covey took a beating last season. I would be pleasantly surprised if he plays next season. Dixon is a gamer. Hopefully 2-3 of the young guys step up, Enis, Thompson, Boyd, maybe Periman etc. If Nacua and Simpkins see the field in the Fall it will be an indication the younger guys have not progressed to the next level. Utah will need to pass the…[Read more]

That ship has sailed for Larry. The only people he recruits is the P12 media, and the has been coaches and players who know him as a player from golden years in the NBA.
