  • It’s been a fun preseason with all of the attention on Utah football. Not sure any of this means anything for future recruiting. Once the season starts it comes down to whether or not teams are true to form. I think we can all agree these predictions although fun rarely play out as predicted other than Alabama, Clemson, and a couple of…[Read more]

  • If the Ute-BYU game is close then all the HYPE about Utah is just that. A P12 Champion caliber team should beat BYU by at least 2-3 touchdowns. Other than maybe TE, BYU is not even close to the talent level of Utah. If this game ends up close it tells me Utah is not nearly as good as advertised. BYU would be the worst team by far in the P12. The…[Read more]

  • Nice find. WR is a big concern. Drops were a continued problem as is the blocking and athleticism of the WR group. Overall, IMO, the WR group is the least talented on the team compared to the other P12 schools. Not good when your WRs make your QB look bad. Upside is Ludwig will coach around this weakness. The upper P12 teams give the Ute outside…[Read more]

  • Minus the record and complete choke job losses (won’t reference games to minimize flashback pain). In terms of raw NFL talent, 2016 roster is a better comparison.

  • I am not drinking the KA just yet. Having Moss and Huntley back is a major positive. There is amazing talent coming back on defense. To win a P12 Championship, Utah needs smart QB play and some sort of miracle improvement at WR. Utah football program is getting a lot of national hype right now. The returning talent and high expectations does not…[Read more]

  • Covey took a beating last season. I would be pleasantly surprised if he plays next season. Dixon is a gamer. Hopefully 2-3 of the young guys step up, Enis, Thompson, Boyd, maybe Periman etc. If Nacua and Simpkins see the field in the Fall it will be an indication the younger guys have not progressed to the next level. Utah will need to pass the…[Read more]

That ship has sailed for Larry. The only people he recruits is the P12 media, and the has been coaches and players who know him as a player from golden years in the NBA. His less than impressive coaching record and resume is overshadowed by the good old boy network of retired basketball players afraid to break code and speak the truth about his…[Read more]

  • Agree…unfortunately psycho athlete parents are the worst part of it.

  • IMHO..Oline will be fine with Harding. He will coach up the current group and Ludwig will provide a good game plan.

I have very low expectations for the WR group. Mainly because they seem to be poorly coached. I don’t know why Holliday does not catch more heat. WR recruiting and play has been horrible. Utah gets noticed as a team with top QBs…[Read more]

Ha! Photo shop Eddie Haskell’s head on that body and you’re in business….Those tight unis make me feel uncomfortable :)!

Utah’s new Spring support to watch. Get out to a game Ute fans and support these guys. Great spectator sport.

Who knows, Utah probably a long shot. If not Utah, seems odd to go on Utah local TV to make an announcement going somewhere else. I guess out of respect for the UofU and his brother, if it’s Oregon or UW. I would guide my kid to show some class and make a low key announcement. IMO…a bit of a slap in the face if it’s not Utah. Different times we…[Read more]

  • Puka has until April 1 to decide :)! Good to know his mom is involved. What gets overlooked in these decisions is where will the kid have the best experience. Would be cool to see him playing with his brother.

That is an awesome photo! I am guessing you won’t see a Ute QB do this again. Coaches are not fond of their QBs getting airborne in the open field.

  • Trailgoat replied to the topic Herm is an arrogant putz in the forum Football 6 years ago

Agree…these are unfair assumptions regarding Herm Edwards. I am actually glad HE is in the P12. He’s good for the conference. Get over Daniels. Rising is a better fit for where Utah’s offense is going. Undersized, dual threat QBs are high risk. Look around the league at teams with successful offenses. I can’t remember the last season a QB at…[Read more]

  • Trailgoat started the topic Rising vs. Daniels in the forum Football 6 years ago

I know Daniels is a highly rated dual threat QB. IMO, Rising is aligned more with future Utah QBs. Daniels is listed at 6’3″ 175lbs, meaning he’s probably more like 6’2″ 170. The dual threat QBs of his stature fight injuries their entire career in the P12.
Rising at 235 lbs will be way more durable and get the necessary run yards without getting…[Read more]

  • Trailgoat replied to the topic yet more recruiting thoughts in the forum Football 6 years ago

The OC swinging door has not helped with offensive recruiting. I would not blame a kid like Nacua or Willmore going else where considering what’s been going on with Utah’s offense. There has been so much inconsistency and weirdness in the offense coaching ranks at Utah. Still not sure why Holliday is still on the coaching staff? The WR development…[Read more]

  • Agree…Utah’s recruiting is long term. Need at least 1-2 H.S. recruits next year to compete with Shelley and Rising. Spring ball should tell us a lot about Rising. Upside Ludwig is a QB coach as well. He has enough tenure to know what is needed for the future after Spring Ball.

  • Coming down to the 2/6 wire with a number of players that could reveal a potential step up in higher level recruiting for Utah football. The transfer rules have worked in Utah’s favor proving to some of these athletes the UofU is a damn good place to go to school and play football. What is missing in recruiting that Utah is a place of destination…[Read more]

  • Game was lost on that play. Bill Buckner level mistake by Ford that seemed to quickly get overlooked.
