ASU game tells us whether or not Utah is off to a slow start this season or is truly not a very good football team. KW’s back in his comfort zone coaching as the hunter. We saw last weekend what happens to good teams that don’t show up. Sone Bama fans are already calling for DeBoers head…geez.

Defense is fine. Utes score TDs 2 out of 3 times…[Read more]

  • Too early to tell. Going with P12 team bandwagon. Brent Brennan and Kenny Dillingham fan. BB is a damn good coach and KD has ASU moving in the right direction. Deion’s entertaining and CU is scary. No into the other B12 teams yet. If Utah flames out, jumping on the old P12 team bandwagon.

  • Adding to Gatorade finger mania. Is it possible the laceration may have actually been an open dislocation? I did not pay much attention to the aftermath replay during the game other than shaking his hand running off the field. As mentioned on the board, QB room management’s been less than desirable for many years compounding the situation. Even i…[Read more]

  • Good points. Crazy to think Isaac Wilson is 7 years younger than CR. Wilson has a bright future ahead of him. Interested to see how the season plays out IF Rising comes back for the ASU game. Anything short of a CFP is not going to sit well with Utah fans and boosters who have very high expectations for CRs performance when he returns. CR looked…[Read more]

  • Hard to take Rising or KW seriously after the knee injury charade. The weekly mental hopscotch last season only hurt the program in the long run. Everybody in the Rising camp, knew damn well he was not playing in 2023. The deception whether KW was aware of or not was a bad look for KW and the program.

The lack QB and RB development and…[Read more]

  • Man, I think Rising needs more game reps before the tough last quarter of the schedule. CR looked rusty in the last 15 minutes before getting injured in the Baylor game. Wild guess Rising plays a few series.

Huge benefit is longer recovery time for Reid and O’toole to heal up going into the rougher back end of the schedule. Utes beat up UofA they…[Read more]

  • RB room is very thin, great to see Vincent get reps. Got to keep Bernard healthy. Stanley is not a between the tackles RB. Mitchell looks like a Freshman missing running lanes and doesn’t run like a 220 RB. What happened to Hunter Andrews?

Would be surprised if Glover or Wood (since injured, is Wood still on the team?) ever see future game time…[Read more]

B12 is the best stop gap right now for the super conference beauty contest. From a fan access perspective for those of us living West of the Rockies, it’s a hell of a lot easier and more attractive traveling to the original P12 locations. From a talent show perspective, B12 is the optimal short term place to be as long as Utah contends for B12…[Read more]

  • Seems about right. At this point in the season, OSU even with their flaws, playing at home has the edge. After three games, OSU overall is playing better, more consistent football than Utah. Defining game for Rising and Utah’s defense. Rising looked like a QB who hasn’t played for 600+ days in the last 15 minutes of the Baylor game before his…[Read more]

  • Game observations from about mid 1st qtr until CR left the game. CR struggled moving the ball after the gifted field position TD by the defense. Other than the following series with his big run and wide open pass to Money Parks stalling in the RZ, the offense was ineffective throwing the ball up until CRs injury. Credit to Baylor’s defense making…[Read more]

  • Agree Proud. Almost two years removed from playing elite D1 football his performance at this point is impressive. It’s not talked about enough how hard it is to come back from a major injury and play at a high level right away. He still needs more reps to get the arm strength back, timing with his new receivers in the game plan. He’s only going to…[Read more]

  • Concerns going into Baylor in the context of Utah living up to the B12 champion hype. Rewatched the game. Clearly this was a successful tune up game for Rising and Kuithe. A lot of wide open options for Rising. Agree with all the positives discussed on the board. Some observations going into the Baylor game, O’toole got pushed around on run plays…[Read more]

  • Sipping the Koolaide until the OSU game. Utah has everything in place to win the B12. Mostly all good for Utah to run the B12. Some of my fears/questions. How do Rising and Kuithe respond being out of football for so long? Can KW coach his team to play high level football throughout the season in the limelight? How does Utah respond to critical…[Read more]

  • No chance in hell FSU or Clemson are going to the B12. The ACC GORs and TV contracts all the ACC schools signed are the main barrier followed by the brands and revenue generating power of FSU and Clemson would be too much for the BIG/SEC to pass up. Media goons spouting BS. FSU and Clemson have a history of national brand success.

  • B12 programs are auditioning for the super conference beauty pageant whenever Espn, Fox, BIG and SEC decide to breakaway creating a Super Conference. If the ACC implodes like the P12. Clemson, FSU, Duke, NC and a few others in the ACC have too much national brand power and revenue generation to not be picked up by the BIG or SEC in some form. That…[Read more]

  • OSU is a must win game on the road for Utah. The OSU game tells us a lot how good Utah truly is compared to the Big 12 competition. Can Rising and KW win a big game on the road? Utah beats OSU and OSU loses to KSU the next week on the road essentially eliminates OSU. A lot at stake for Utah early on in the season.

  • Solid post and questions. IMO, the fist three games are crucial for Kuithe and Rising to knock the rust off, mentally and physically. Almost two years out from a top level sport takes time to get back, some never do. Woods and Ryan injuries remain a mystery to me unless I missed something, hopefully not for the coaches :). Ryan and Woods could be…[Read more]

  • RB blocking is a questionable. If Utah is going to throw the ball 25+ times a game, a solid blocking RB is critical for pass protection. This is the biggest loss with JQJs departure. Unless I’m missing someone, the current RB group is on the smaller size. Glover is a decent blocking back. Bernard will force teams to respect his pass catching…[Read more]

  • Regardless of the content and absurdity, the free national PR for Utah is never a bad thing.

  • Cautiously, yes. Concerns: injuries coming out of Fall camp, first three weeks of Rising’s return, Oline depth. KW has historically struggled to win as the coach under the national spotlight and there’s yearly WTF loss keeping Utah from being viewed as a great program. Bar is set very high this year with B12 Championship expectations and college…[Read more]
