  • End of game coaching in close games has been a blind spot for KW throughout his career.

Agree, KW again struggles coaching down the end in another close game against a team Utah should have beat. This has been a blind spot for him throughout his career. No score inside the 10 yard line with 1st down two times. Some odd coaching decisions on the road as mentioned difference in the game.

Defense line has some issues. Barton looks like…[Read more]

Napier does not want Richardson running the ball ad lib all day. UF has zero depth at QB right now. Sure they want to beat Utah, not at the expense of losing their QB before SEC play. Keeping Richardson healthy for SEC play is the priority. This game means a hell of lot more to Utah than Florida. Agree, Napier is a run heavy coach. Utah shuts down…[Read more]

  • Looking forward to see how the Utah coaching staff step up their game at the same level put on their players.
How does KW coach at the end of close games against good coaches and teams? An area IMO he has struggled with in key games during his tenure. To an extent, we saw some of this in the Rose Bowl. I get other factors in play with Rising…[Read more]

Why not have all the players wear bug screens over their helmets and camelbacks during the game :)? So the way everybody talks Florida players seem to be immune to the dehydration affect of heat and humidity. Would not be surprised to see Utah go no huddle on the first drive and in certain field positions throughout the game knowing Florida’s…[Read more]

  • Not at all confident. Would not surprise me at all if UF blocks a punt or runs a KO back for a TD and overall big return yardage. Same kicker struggles kicking touch backs at the RES. Utah KO return coverage and punt team were awful all season. Did not get fixed all season costing Utah the Rose Bowl, no reason to believe to anything has changed…[Read more]

  • RB at Utah is absolutely LOADED and all of the RBs have very unique, elite talents making them very hard to defend. Teams are going to see a way different look/style from Thomas, Bernard, Glover, and Curry. All the talk is about getting the vertical pass game going, man, stopping Utah’s running game is going to be a tough out. Need to have zero…[Read more]

  • Things to look for out of Fall camp. More off season filler on the back stretch. Just pointing out some concerns as there are waaaay more positives going into camp.
    1. QB #2. Usually for Utah the battle in Fall camp is for who is the best of a group of QBs to be announced 1 hour before kick-off as if KW is hiding some secret weapon at QB. Good…[Read more]

  • ND would be foolish contractually joining the B1G. Fox has everyone glossy eyed with all the big money push. Beyond money, I have yet to hear any talk of a coherent conference plan that benefits ND better than they have it. There is still a ton of unforeseen risk in play as Fox and ESPN march forward alienating 70%-80% of college programs and…[Read more]

  • If USC wins the P12 championship and goes to the CFP, the P10 is officially dead.

  • A long shot. If the P12 can find a valued balance between media money and the regional benefit of staying together as a group in the West, P12 may hang on. UCLA and USC will be taking on a huge burden and risk in two years that money won’t cover up. Klievkoff is going to need an industry changing plan to get P12 decent enough money to make…[Read more]

  • viewership. More off season ramble below :). Excluding the 2020 Covid season, last years CFP games was the 2nd lowest watched since the CFP four team format started in 2015. College football viewership overall continues to decline, especially out West. No surprise the BIG, SEC, and ND viewership drive the market by a long shot, not even close.…[Read more]

Problem with any scenario is once the BIG throws out invites to Oregon and UW and others the conference shuffle is over. None of the West Coast schools from a geographical stand point really want to join the BIG unless there is some sort of West Coast/Mtn division. USC can rationalize all they want the kids will get use to it…BS.

    BIG made a…[Read more]

  • P12 and B12 scrambling to add teams is nothing more than rearranging deck furniture on the Titanic.

It’s all about contraction of the highest money generating programs/media markets sharing with only those that bring equal, more, or close to high level revenue. USC and UCLA win or lose are in one of the highest money generating media markets.…[Read more]

  • Trailgoat replied to the topic Conference Expansion in the forum Football 2 years, 6 months ago

Wild guess (being somewhat facetious), the next conference alignment is decided by money, seems to be already heading that way. The top 20 or so most financially powerful teams (schools only by name) backed by boosters/whoever wants to pay with their bag of money and ego tied to their teams football success create their own gated football…[Read more]

We may see a resurgence of the Ivy league football return to National Championship contention. Throw back to the late 1800s/early 1900s. Princeton, Harvard, and Yale soon to be in the mix for the CFP. MIT and Cal Tech should jump in the mix and start football programs with all of their high earning alumni. Why not?
    Imagine what Elon Musk-Penn,…[Read more]

  • Rising just needs to do his thing. Half or of the players on this list will fall off as the season plays out. Looking at the list, it’s about the shine of the school as well. To be fair, Utah does not do a very good job promoting their players or program nationally since Meyer left. Not KW’s style and Harlan is more focused on preparing himself…[Read more]

  • Utah historically has early season struggles with way too many injuries before the season for some odd reason and looking like they skipped Fall camp in the first couple games. Utah follows this trend against Florida it will be a long day.

Biggest concerns with Utah IMO in the context of a Top 10 team against UF:
    – Playing in the loud Swamp with…[Read more]

  • Oline could very well be better than last year. They just need an Oline leader like Nick Ford to step up. I spent time watching the Oline on repeat during the scrimmage, they’re no joke.

  • Agree. My first Utah football game was a loss at home to University of Idaho in 1993. Going to the Rose Bowl was a national program changing event for Utah. Utes need to keep winning to build up the program similar to what Oregon did in the Chip Kelly era and 2 years of Helfrich at Oregon. Before Chip Kelly, Oregon was very average. Kudos to…[Read more]
