Good for him moving onto a fresh start with a new, younger, up and coming coach. Assuming he’s on full scholarship, gets the opportunity to resume playing football and finish his degree. He gave it a shot and unfortunately stepped into a dysfunctional situation at Utah. Smart move.

Agree. Utah coaches probably didn’t feel he was worth the investment as a player or leader who played only half the 2024 season. Didn’t play up to expectations after a good 2023 season. Man, last two years were bad. The injury’s out of Fall camp is not new. I think it was 2021 or 2022, maybe both, half of the 10 strong Olneman were out hurt when the season started. Some trickled back into the rotation, but it was a constant shuffle of players in, out, and around to different Oline positions throughout the season.

Guessing the risk to reward made sense for TV exposure/revenue for CU who is hanging on to every last minute of the Sanders-Hunter show. Half the teams rarely show up to play anyway. The long term affects of his knee injury does get somewhat overshadowed by the other injuries he suffered following. King is a good fit for Beck’s offense. Hybrid TE/WR you can spread out, move inside, good blocker. New Mexico did throw to the TE a decent amount. Clearly WRs are the primary pass targets, some RB. Agree, none of Utah’s QBs on the 2024 roster fit the player profile for Beck’s offense. Guessing Beck lands a couple QBs in the portal matched with Becks QB running scheme. Might see Becker also hit the portal being a pro-style QB. Either way, zero expectations for meaningful improvement with KW as head coach.

Rising won’t survive in Beck’s true RPO offense. Dampier in 2024, 155 carry’s for 1,166 yards. In Rising’s few run plays, he looked a step slow. Small sample of work due to injuries of course. That said, we’ll likely see the KW, sabotaged version of Beck’s offense. 2025 is the KW rehab attempt tour and collecting his pay check.
