A composite 4 star. This kid has star potential. He’s legit.
He’s a little light right now, but that is because he is going to college a year early. He looks like he can get to 200 lbs and not a Zack Moss 200, but a lean, cut, mean 200 lbs.
IF we can keep him into his second year and IF he can play next year and not get hurt because he is so…[Read more]

Even the Ravens, who are Utah’s NFL mirror…their offense didn’t take off until they started getting the ball to their receivers. They tried for years to run the ball and feature the TE…
You can’t win it all that way.
You have to be able to score quickly to be elite. And not rely of the defense to set it up. You need to be able to get the…[Read more]

Utah replied to the topic OC Candidates outside of Whittingham's circle? in the forum Football 2 weeks, 3 days ago
Not really. Whitt completely ignores the outside receiver. He takes 2 positions on offense and turns them into blockers.
The Eagles run a run heavy offense. And they feed the ball to AJ Brown.
The 49ers run a very similar offense. And they feed the ball to Deebo and other WR’s.
The Lions are a run heavy team who also features the WR’s.I get…[Read more]

If Whitt is the HC, it doesn’t matter. In the circle, out of the circle, the offense will be the same. Troy Taylor was as far out of the circle as it comes. He was supposed to spread the ball around. Look at our offense:
Year 1 of Troy Taylor:
The first 8 games, we threw the ball 36 times per game. We were 4-4 with a 4 game losing streak. After…[Read more]

Utah replied to the topic Two things I don't understand about the Ute Fan base (at least online) in the forum Football 2 weeks, 4 days ago
1 – I’ve been very honest about my Boise hate. I hate them, because we did all the work and they got all the credit. Boise St’s MO is to play one tough team a year, try to win that game, then roll through a shitty WAC/MWC and get all the glory. We would schedule 2-3 P5 games a year. Boise shoots for one.
Did you know that in 2004 Boise St was…[Read more]

Because there is no criteria anymore. No SOS, no this or that. It’s just “look at the board and do what the keyboard warriors would tell you to do.”
It also says another thing: The committee views the MWC and the Big 12 as equals. They see the strength of conference as:
#1 – SEC/Big 10
Gap
#3 – ACC
Big gap
Everyone else.This is such a shitty…[Read more]

As would Whitt. As would 99% of people. Be real man.

Utah replied to the topic I think the longer the silence, the more in the forum Football 2 weeks, 4 days ago
No…but yes.
If I’m Whitt and I’m owed 20 million I tell Utah to pound sand, I’m not retiring.
Now, if Utah comes to Whitt and says, “Hey. Here’s 12 million. Wanna retire?” Then the negotiation of the buyout begins.
Whitt technically “retires” but he didn’t really retire. He was asked politely (and with a big check) to retire.

Utah replied to the topic In my best Jerry Seinfeld voice: What’s the deal with assistant coach Harding? in the forum Football 2 weeks, 4 days ago
Sometimes making $500,000 a year with a good routine is enough for people. And that’s great for us.
Look at the Philadelphia Eagles. They easily have the best OL coach in the NFL. Been with the Eagles for 12 years. Sometimes great money doing something you love is great.
Harding was one of our many, many OC’s. I wonder if he didn’t like it.…[Read more]

Utah replied to the topic Why would an OC who has designed a fast-paced offense want to coach under Whitt? in the forum Football 2 weeks, 5 days ago
This is tough. I get why Whitt doesn’t change. He makes millions of dollars a year, he gets to live around his family, etc, etc, etc.
To make a drastic change on the offensive side of the ball…it’s risky. Sure, you can win a big time bowl game, maybe even a national championship. BUT, if you lose more…well, this is a fickle job and fans and…[Read more]

I think everyone knows that Troy Taylor is a HC in spite of Whitt, not because of Whitt.

Utah replied to the topic Why would an OC who has designed a fast-paced offense want to coach under Whitt? in the forum Football 2 weeks, 5 days ago
Oklahoma feels like the next Nebraska. Great history, top dog of their small, shitty conference, leave for a new conference and can’t get back to the top.
If you’re a recruit, and Oklahoma and Nebraska offer you, why would you go there over Ohio State, Michigan, Penn St, Alabama, Texas, A&M, Auburn, LSU, etc?

Utah replied to the topic Why would an OC who has designed a fast-paced offense want to coach under Whitt? in the forum Football 2 weeks, 5 days ago
There is zero chance an uptempo OC would want to coach with Whitt.
If Whitt is our HC, it doesn’t matter who we hire as OC. We know what our offense will look like.

Utah replied to the topic New OC hire could signal KW's future in the forum Football 2 weeks, 6 days ago
Scalley is Utah whipped. He isn’t going anywhere. He has the job when Whitt leaves, whenever that is.
He’s probably being paid as much as a lot of head coaches.
And he knows if he leaves, he may never come back. If he leaves, it opens the door to Jay Hill and everyone else.
Scalley ain’t going anywhere. And if he does, Utah will be just fine.

Utah replied to the topic Why Whit should retire. in the forum Football 3 weeks ago
As for #1 – part of this issue is the rule changes. The games rules are set up to score a lot of points. You can’t fight the system. When the system says “score points” you trying to not score points as your main emphasis is too hard.
2- part of this is Whitt can’t keep players long enough. Look at JaQuindon Jackson and Greg Lloyd. Jackson…[Read more]

Yeah, it’s nuts. UCF fans complaining about how they are stuck with Gus for another year because they can’t afford a 12 million dollar buyout and now they are all rejoicing because he quit.
This conference sucks.

Utah replied to the topic New OC? And QB transfer? in the forum Football 3 weeks ago
I’m fine. I’m not sold on Scalley, but I also don’t think you should have two head coaches like we did this year.
It’s too hard.
So, I say go with Scalley.
2nd – if Whitt stays, the be a Campbell/Siriani coach and let your coordinators do their thing.
-
Utah replied to the topic New OC? And QB transfer? in the forum Football 3 weeks ago
Whitt needs to take a page from Dan Campbell and Nick Siriani’s playbook:
Be a head coach that doesn’t do jack shit except make sure everyone is happy and take the blame for bad calls that your OC/DC made but you tell everyone you made that call.
