One of the posters over on another site who is pretty tied in on the media side (in particular that bowl) posted

“I just spoke with my buddy on the committee and the PAC12 lobbied to get Utah in. Mark Harlan pressed for it and the conference pressed on Utah’s behalf as well.”

Evidently the PAC 12 did lobby to get Utah in that bowl.

The bowls not named the Rose Bowl paid additional money to get to pick their teams. So it was a lobbying job to get the bowl officials to pick Utah. Good job by both the PAC 12 and Utah ADs office.

I would agree if it’s 10-0, but at 3-0 your in a defensive struggle. We just saw a defensive play win that game, if their in a negative situation with the wind you’re far more likely to have something like that happed on the final play. I’m sure that Bama thought they had nothing to lose on the Kick Six play also.

Utah was far more explosive in the Fassel years than under meyer. Think about the big win under Fassel against BYU it was like 54-something. During Meyer, 6-0.

I actually enjoyed watching the Saints/Cowboys game because of the defense that was being played, and I’m not really a fan of either team.

That game was fierce. You could tell that early on BYU more than matched Utah’s intenstity, but slowly they had the life squeezed out of them.

If I remember that Vegas bowl was close for three quarters with Utah playing a number of backups due to injury. Without sounding too much like a BYU fan, I thought the staff did a pretty good job of hanging in there given the difference in health of the two teams.

This scenario was floated first last week by CBS sports. It appears the Holiday is locked in on Oregon and the Redbox on one of the local teams, unless Wazzu is available. I think the story is that if Utah loses they would have 4 losses, which slots WSU in the Alamo. That leave us in the Sun

I tried to watch some of this, but it’s unwatchable. Hopefully the coaching staff can figure something out because this team looks really bad.

My vote would be to drop BYU in favor of Utah State. Look at this year, which would be a better win, BYU or Utah State?
