Or how about Utah under late Rick Majerus or Utah after Rick Majerus?

Any NFL team that wants to ensure a circus environment and low probability of success should seriously consider hiring Prime Time. The Raiders seem like great fit.

I don’t remember ever before seeing an AD issue an apology for comments. He may want to focus more on working “behind the curtain.” It would be a lot safer for him.

Uteanooga replied to the topic Status of Utah football in the forum Football 2 weeks, 1 day ago
We didn’t have to worry about the defense under the old rules because the program always had players developing alongside returning veterans- that is, when someone graduated there was a player with 2 or 3 years learning the system as well as development in the strength and conditioning program. This recipe was spiced with some incredible players…[Read more]

The NBA salary cap keeps the league sort of competitive. How many of the past 20 years have you felt that the Jazz were competitive?
There is no way to regulate endorsement money and no sane person would take a long position on the Jazz over the Lakers.
The salary cap does help though- no doubt. A similar structure would give Utah football a…[Read more]

Sending southern teams to play in 15-20 degree weather is a huge advantage for the home team.

This smacks of truth.
Utah pushed above its weight for years and now is going to have to learn to succeed within the new rules. It does not look like an easy path.

Uteanooga replied to the topic Needs to be an NIL Regulatory Office in the forum Football 1 month ago
The courts ruled that the previous NIL restrictions were illegal. It is simple. There was no plan just the courts making a ruling.
That is why it looks like chaos.
Bellyache and bitch if it makes you feel better or rail against the judicial system.

We had 0 literally. Now we have 3. That is improvement no matter how you cut it. It does not mean we will be getting trashed in Columbus next December however.

This version of playoff would be perfect for the old conferences. Put the old P12 and B12 back to gather and voila- perfect playoff.

Uteanooga replied to the topic Needs to be an NIL Regulatory Office in the forum Football 1 month ago
The system is in chaos because the athletes were being treated illegally for decades and the courts finally recognized that.
Do you want to regulate how much endorsement money can be paid to LeBron in order to level the playing field for the Jazz? It is not going to happen. The salary cap helps but the Jazz are still at a financial disadvantage…[Read more]

Uteanooga replied to the topic What were the rumors about Wilson? in the forum Football 1 month, 1 week ago
He is what 18years old? It sounds like he acted immaturely which is fairly common for a young man. If he can learn from this and come back with a good attitude- that would be a win.
The team needs both quality and quantity in the QB room. The arm talent/running ability that made him an elite prospect are still there and the experience he gained…[Read more]

Uteanooga started the topic Success will come from reallocating $ away from coaches and towards players in the forum Football 1 month, 1 week ago
Players matter more than coaches. Any one who has done any coaching at any level understands that the best way to look smart as the coach is to have the best players.
Suppose two college football teams spend 15m each. One team spends 10m on coaching- say 5 or 6m to the head coach and 4-5 to assistants while spending 5m on players. The other team…[Read more]

Uteanooga replied to the topic THINK ABOUT THIS …. in the forum Football 1 month, 1 week ago
The changes to college sports were not driven by big $$$. Big $$$ has been involved for a long time.
The changes were immediately driven by the courts recognizing that the previous rules were illegal. This was not an attempt to improve sports. It was a judicial ruling that recognized college sports were built on an unenforceable and illegal premise.

Uteanooga replied to the topic Why Paying Players Hasn't Fixed College Sports in the forum Football 1 month, 1 week ago
They signed as minors. Minors are not able to sign binding agreements.
Can you think of any other situation where a parent signs their kiddo to an agreement where the child will be bound after becoming an adult? It certainly is not common if there is precedent at all.
The courts determined in the cases you cited that the agreements were not…[Read more]

Uteanooga replied to the topic Why Paying Players Hasn't Fixed College Sports in the forum Football 1 month, 1 week ago
The decision was not an effort to fix sports- rather the courts recognized that the way athletes were being treated was illegal.
The athletes made decisions while legally children and were bound to that decision as adults- illegal.
The athletes were not allowed to own the value of their own names and likenesses based, again, on decisions they…[Read more]

Gauley is dam release by schedule. New is free flowing and rain dependent. So new runs any time. It gets low and it gets huge- either can be an issue.
I’ve spent a lot of time kayaking on the Gauley and a bit on the New. Both are awesome and worth seeing.
Also hiking in the hardwood forests is pretty amazing when you are from the desert.…[Read more]
