Awesome post!
There are so many great memories. Utah took advantage of the opportunity and went from being an outsider to an insider during the P12 days. It was an amazing transition. I am proud of the program not pulling a Colorado.
Being associated with the P12 universities was really fantastic and every game had the feel of being a huge…[Read more]

Uteanooga replied to the topic How to watch Utah Ute sports after the move to the Big 12 in the forum Misc 6 months, 3 weeks ago
Our experiences with the P12 network seem to have varied significantly. I live in SEC country and trying to find the P12n was like looking under rocks. None of the major providers carried it. No sports bars or restaurants showed the games. The streaming options my family preferred did not offer the P12n.
I am not trying to say it was impossible…[Read more]

Ha- I must have had USC on my mind.
Utah has always done more with less- at least in terms of recruit stars!

Utah is in a transition period and needs to win to keep the recruiting going. Utah will still be able to recruit elite talent but will continue to be at a disadvantage compared to the USC’s of the world. UCF is in our league and look at their developing class:

*Most avalanche prone in the lower 48. Alaska gets lot of snow, has a lot of steep mountains, and a lot of avalanches. Who knows what is happening in the Himalayas etc.
But yeah- LC is it. Ski paradise. Except for the traffic. Fine point on the timing though- if you get up early enough you can get up the mountain.

Interesting. It just does not seem plausible that Clemson and Florida St. would start this fight without a behind-the-scene landing spot in the B2. If it is likely that they would fight their way out of the ACC to have the B12 as their only option- what would be the point?

Without capitalism there would not be ski resorts or ski equipment and we would not know how to ski. Perhaps you would have some home-made cross country gear. You certainly would not have access to high speed quad lifts and the phenomenal gear we all use now. Blaming capitalism for our recreational frustrations rings a bit empty.

The Olympics were a lot of fun the first time around. Big productions and an incredible vibe being the center of world’s attention.
If I were to be a Debbie downer- the Olympics started the era of overcrowding in SLC ski resorts. Traffic in Little and Big Cottonwood is a mess. Parking reservations have improved things a bit but it is still a far…[Read more]

Uteanooga replied to the topic It's all about Cam Rising in the forum Football 7 months ago
Keeping Cam in the pocket is not necessarily going to prevent injury. His knee was a non-contact issue. If there were an algorithm for effective and injury-free QB play, everyone would use it and there wouldn’t be any injured QBs. We will take our chances like everyone else.
Very few teams have elite and proven backups. At this point with NIL…[Read more]

That is a nice story. Fiction at this point. Hopefully it will turn out that way.

We Ute fans have done plenty of belly aching about our WRs. I’d love to see one of the two 4* receivers signed last year show out as a tremendous threat as a freshmen.

I don’t think the leagues have a mechanism to remove schools- so when it is ready to happen it will likely be new organizations that can invite who they like.

Uteanooga replied to the topic How is Oklahoma State not picked first? in the forum Football 7 months, 3 weeks ago
Fine points.
The preseason picks are fun and can generate buzz for recruiting- but should not be taken seriously as an actual prediction in any way. I think we have all at some time felt that Utah plays better as an underdog. It will not help the team to go into the season feeling like favorites.
I have no doubt that there will be some tough…[Read more]

Uteanooga replied to the topic Let's discuss the chances of Utah getting called up to the super league in the forum Football 8 months, 1 week ago
I think a lot will depend on whether the P2 expand or whether the new league starts from scratch. Take Vanderbilt’s exclusion as the certainty that many assume- Vanderbilt is a lot like Stanford. Elite school, elite endowment, elite location, less-than-elite athletics. Yes Vandy is somewhat less elite than Stanford and TN has 10m people while CA…[Read more]

Travis won a lot of games for us. He was not a perfect QB but those are awfully rare and are not going to transfer to be a depth piece.

Uteanooga replied to the topic Kool-Aid anyone? in the forum Football 9 months ago
Truth. It is easy to look back and feel like current players are just better than those of the past but I don’d buy it. ’08 was stacked. One of the keys to ’08 and ’04 was lack of injuries. Tell me that the same dudes start every game this year and I’ll drink all of that Kool-Aid I can get. You just can’t predict that.
As for ’04, it is easy to…[Read more]
