As much as I detest Zoob athletics I have to say that this has been an amazing sequence for them and I am really jealous. They had a coach good enough for arguably the most resource-rich program in the country to lure him away. Then they hired the highest-paid NBA associate head coach that has been linked with multiple NBA head coach positions.…[Read more]

Uteanooga replied to the topic Utah as a B1G expansion target in the forum Misc 10 months, 1 week ago
His opinion that no one in the B12 would leave for the B10 is entertaining. I am not sure who the B12iest of all B12 teams is, but I am fairly certain that they would leave the B12 for the B10 without needing more than a few moments consideration.
Is there a single B12 team that would turn the B10 down? I think not.

Uteanooga replied to the topic Is QB2 race really a “dead heat”? in the forum Football 10 months, 2 weeks ago
I wonder what is the rough ratio of “serviceable” QBs in the portal to programs who would like to upgrade their QB room. I would guess that at least half of programs would like to upgrade at QB and that the number of such QBs is pretty low. Hence their significant price tag.
Perhaps 1/4, maybe 1/8. For every such QB, 4 or 8 teams would like to…[Read more]

What surgery, specifically, is Wilson going to have?
Is this what he is considering or waiting for?

I also took notice of his creeping depth comment. I assume he means helping players that are not quite good enough to contribute improve enough to become contributors.

Dream DC is Pappa Shah. Sharrieff is a star. He is also a loyal Utah man. Look no further.
Obviously Eric Weddle may be our GOAT and we would love to have him as a graduate assistant. 🙂

Uteanooga replied to the topic article ranking FBS teams desirability in further expansion in the forum Football 11 months ago
It is interesting to consider but it will all depend on how many teams are invited to the next party.
If they only invite 20- Utah will be on the outside looking in.
If they invite 30- Utah will be a bubble team. There will be some quality programs left out in the cold.
If they invite 40- Utah should be safely in.40 or 50 programs have…[Read more]

Uteanooga replied to the topic College Football Realignment Dream Scenario in the forum Football 11 months, 1 week ago
The $ comes from broadcasting rights. Conference affiliation is the mechanism for collective bargaining- without this how would Utah negotiate and compete with the big dogs for broadcasting dollars? A Utah game is not going to bring as much revenue as an Ohio St. game.
The reason we are not in the B10 is that we don’t bring enough eyeballs to…[Read more]

The ACC has teams that either the SEC or B10 would take. The B12 does not- as we are painfully aware.

Uteanooga replied to the topic Rising says, "I am pretty darn close to 100%." in the forum Football 11 months, 2 weeks ago
He was wearing one legging and no brace in the pic- which surprises me. Many QBs who have not been hurt wear a brace on the throwing knee to mitigate risk. The braces do suck but not as badly as getting hurt again. Studies show they reduce risk of injury. He must be confident to be out there without wearing the brace.

What was Barton’s injury- ACL? If it was a complete tear requiring surgery, he will certainly not be healthy yet.

Uteanooga replied to the topic YES PLEASE! in the forum Football 11 months, 3 weeks ago
This is just some dude’s guess. W. Virginia is a great place to visit but has a population of 1.5m. Nebraska has about 2m, loves football but has not won in a long time. Utah has about 3m. Arizona has a population of 7m and Colorado 6m.
Would any rational decision makers take schools based on recent success despite small populations like Utah,…[Read more]

Bishop is made to play safety and is going to have a long career. Vaki is going to be a steal for someone. He is just as explosive as ever despite the combine numbers.

Uteanooga replied to the topic 50% of Total CFB viewership from only 18 brands from 2016-23 in the forum Football 1 year ago
Will Utah’s viewership continue at the rate of the past few years when playing B12 teams rather than the more popular P12 teams like Oregon, USC, and Washington? That is the question.
I suspect that yes the viewership will continue at a great rate if Utah can win, make the playoffs periodically, and do some damage in the playoffs. Utah has a lot…[Read more]

I am similarly concerned for the fate of Utah athletics and will miss the enjoyment of our P12 ride.
What seems to be lost in fan’s complaints, however, is the simple fact that the previous system violated the inherent rights of the student athletes. That is what the courts have ruled. Everyone bellyaches about how the changes will affect their…[Read more]

Uteanooga replied to the topic Whitt ranked 3rd best coach in college football in the forum Football 1 year ago
DT that is a fine point regarding the Ohio St. Rose bowl. I had forgotten how close we were. Looking at the box score- Utah gave up 573 passing yards and 683 yards total offense. Yikes. That is what I was remembering and completely forgot that despite our depleted defense we were in the game at the end. I stand corrected.

Uteanooga replied to the topic Whitt ranked 3rd best coach in college football in the forum Football 1 year ago
If Utah had beaten Ohio St. and then Penn St. rather than looking like they did’t really belong on the same field, we would care. I, at least, would be very happy about it.
Whitt has been fantastic and the P12 was a great time.
