Uteanooga replied to the topic How do you feel about the hype going into the 2024 season? in the forum Football 11 months, 2 weeks ago
For what it is worth, I thought Cam’s throwing motion was still a bit janky at that point. I’m not sure that he was completely healed.
Mixing a prolific passer with a mandate to not throw interceptions is always going to be unpredictable. The Brewer games were pretty ugly but they gave Cam more time to recover.
Cam being healthy enough to do…[Read more]

Add some but take some away. I thought Deivon was an awfully important part of the team, made good decisions, and could make things happen in the offense. If we had kept him I would feel the program to be on an upwards trend.
Without Deivon, wait and see.

Uteanooga replied to the topic Not a smith guy in the forum Basketball (Men) 11 months, 2 weeks ago
I bet Smith would look a lot smarter if he had better players. The problem is he does not seem to be very good at getting better players on campus. That is obviously a serious problem.
Not being able to win an away game is also a real bummer.
Fingers crossed but expectations are pretty moderate for me.

I don’t think Cam was healthy enough to start over the Baylor transfer.

Uteanooga replied to the topic Utah brings in Sam Huard as QB2/QB3 backup in the forum Football 11 months, 2 weeks ago
Predicted by 247 to be a 1st round draft pick. Um, yes please. I don’t think I’ll hold my breath for this though.

Uteanooga replied to the topic Utah brings in Sam Huard as QB2/QB3 backup in the forum Football 11 months, 2 weeks ago
Great news. In terms of whether Huard fits Ludwig’s schemes- Ludwig knows how to utilize the skillset of the players he has. The playbook might be different for Huard than for Rising but if Huard can make the right decisions and deliver the ball accurately, Lud will make that work.
This pickup seems as good as we could hope for in terms of…[Read more]

Uteanooga replied to the topic Klatt predicts Utah to win B12 in the forum Football 11 months, 2 weeks ago
Exciting year. And the B12 is looking good preseason with 5 of the top 25 teams according to Klatt. It would be so fun to get in the tourney and do some damage.
The pieces are there but much comes down to staying healthy. A few key players going down could make us very pedestrian.

Uteanooga replied to the topic Current Status of Utah Players in the NFL in the forum Football 11 months, 2 weeks ago
Matt Gay has the 2nd highest 3yr average salary at 5.9m/yr and the 3rd highest guaranteed money at 13m. Very impressive career for our former walk on. He has put in a lot of hard work to make it happen and I’m happy for him.
These stats are interesting to peruse. In terms of money it is QB and then everyone else.…[Read more]

Uteanooga replied to the topic Reminder that Utah’s future is SECURE! in the forum Football 11 months, 3 weeks ago
I loved Utah being in the P12 and having somewhat moved on from the BYU rivalry. Utah’s program made big strides during this time and it sucked to see it die.
Utah has little choice other than embracing their current conference mates and that includes BYU. I expect the rivalry to have a resurgent presence in the program’s sphere of influence.…[Read more]

Uteanooga replied to the topic Another record setting year for Utah athletics revenues! in the forum Football 12 months ago
The biggest problem I have is the federal facilitation of large rates of student debt. The feds have ensured all students access to these loans which has naturally fueled elevation of cost to the student. The debt students are incurring is not reasonably serviceable for many graduates. This causes significant hardship and now the feds are in the…[Read more]

Uteanooga replied to the topic Is the Indiana Fever the dumbest team name in the history of the world? in the forum Basketball (Women) 1 year ago
Ah. I am supposed to assume it is the unused and obscure meaning. The one where the audience is in a fever of anticipation waiting for the ladies to move slowly around the court.
I stand corrected. The Fever is a great name.

I did not now there was a team named The Fever until I saw the headline that they drafted Kaitlyn Clark.
Fever? Was The Infection already taken? Do the Jazz have an affiliated WNBA team? I don’t know if they do but if they start one perhaps they could be the Utah Jaundice. Unless The Jaundice is already taken. Or better yet, The New Orleans…[Read more]

Fair points and virtually any new coach may not succeed. I was not trying to make a prediction of how well Pope will do @ Kentucky but rather point out that though Kentucky swung and missed on their top targets, they still wanted Pope. Do you hear of anyone trying to lure Smith away from us?
Many programs would like to hire Whittingham and…[Read more]

Once you get past 20 or 25 programs, you are comparing a lot of really solid places with substantial upside but some warts. Even some of the programs that are dismissed are fantastic. Take Vandy for instance, who many automatically assume would be out with the creation of a new alliance.
Nashville is a fantastic city and Vandy is an elite…[Read more]

As much as I detest Zoob athletics I have to say that this has been an amazing sequence for them and I am really jealous. They had a coach good enough for arguably the most resource-rich program in the country to lure him away. Then they hired the highest-paid NBA associate head coach that has been linked with multiple NBA head coach positions.…[Read more]

His opinion that no one in the B12 would leave for the B10 is entertaining. I am not sure who the B12iest of all B12 teams is, but I am fairly certain that they would leave the B12 for the B10 without needing more than a few moments consideration.
Is there a single B12 team that would turn the B10 down? I think not.

Uteanooga replied to the topic Is QB2 race really a “dead heat”? in the forum Football 1 year ago
I wonder what is the rough ratio of “serviceable” QBs in the portal to programs who would like to upgrade their QB room. I would guess that at least half of programs would like to upgrade at QB and that the number of such QBs is pretty low. Hence their significant price tag.
Perhaps 1/4, maybe 1/8. For every such QB, 4 or 8 teams would like to…[Read more]

I also took notice of his creeping depth comment. I assume he means helping players that are not quite good enough to contribute improve enough to become contributors.

Dream DC is Pappa Shah. Sharrieff is a star. He is also a loyal Utah man. Look no further.
Obviously Eric Weddle may be our GOAT and we would love to have him as a graduate assistant. 🙂
