I liked the concept, but the execution was TERRIBLE. What they should have done:

“MUSS” on both sides and no flag. The pretend creases just made the logos look strange on a helmet.

At UCF scares me ngl. It’s a classic trap game. Short week for us and we have to travel all the way across the country against a team that could be sneaky good, or at least good enough to pull of an upset without needing a bunch of luck.

My list of games I terms of worry factor

1) Arizona
2) Oklahoma State
3) UCF
4) Iowa State
5) TCU

Our awful special teams cost us that game. The special teams was pretty damn good last season.

That too. Their secondary was completely awful last season, which is good for us since we will probably be a pass first team. The strength of their defense is their front 7, but especially their linebackers.

I was honestly disappointed in Kump last season. It just didn’t seem like he could hold his own against good DT’s. That’s my couch coach opinion though.

I have no insider information, but apparently Mike Mitchell has gotten to 218 pounds. I personally think he will breakout this year as the RB1.

Andrews is a freshman and wasn’t even a 4 star, so I doubt he’ll be good this year. Even Barton struggled a bit during his true freshman year and he was much more talented. Reynolds is a complete unknown. Calvert is solid I guess. I still think losing Damuni is gonna be a big loss if he is out for the season.

Is LB depth not a concern? Barton and Reid are great, but with the loss of Damuni, it seems like Fotu is the only other quality LB. Speaking of Damuni, is he for sure out for the season, or is there a chance he can come back later in the season?

The easiest position to make an impact at as a true freshman is WR, so either Williams or Washington are the two most likely. I definitely could see Garcia becoming an important rotational player/backup as the season goes on. Outside of those three, I doubt anyone else will make an impact. Well, nobody can enter the portal now anyway. It already closed. But Glover isn’t that good anyway. Unless he proves to be a solid backup or 3rd string this year, I think it’d be best if he transferred after this year.

Maybe it’s just me, but glover doesn’t need to get stronger, at least that shouldn’t be his focus. He looked his best against Colorado when he was using his shiftiness to evade tackles. Glover should have focused on his short burst quickness and agility. Quickness would help him break tackles anyway, due to increased momentum.

Bowman’s problem is that he is who he is. He’s not going to magically improve as a 7th year player. Tennessee fans were glazing Joe Milton based on his physical ability and him being an older player like Bo Nix. But Joe Milton wasn’t good at all, and that was known heading into 2023. We absolutely do not have the better OL, wtf? Oklahoma State has repeatedly been listed as top 10/5 in the whole country on basically every OL ranking list. Utah hasn’t made a single one, at least from what I’ve seen. As for LB’s, OSU has some pretty good LB’s and we lost Damuni. Plus, Barton’s status is unknown at the moment.

I think Utah will destroy BYU, even if Whitt doesn’t try to run up the score. Utah takes a 28-7 halftime lead and then finishes it out 42-14, maybe 42-21 if they score a garbage time TD.

Keep in mind one very important thing though. The majority of the big we teams run a lot of 5 DB sets, whether it be the 3-3-5 or the less common 4-2-5.
