Do we honestly think he’ll be good? He hasn’t been cleared by his surgeon yet. He completely shredded his knee, not just his ACL. I doubt he’s cleared for USC, and even if he is, I doubt he’d be a running threat.

Myself and others have already shot down this ridiculous notion that QB rooms must be completely devoid of any resistance and competition, as well as the notion that you would sit a QB that is playing well, for a guy who has one properly functioning knee.

You’re the one that needs to use your brain. Football players are competitive and bet on themselves. Cam is completely betting on himself returning from a 12-month average recovery time injury and playing at the same level he was playing at before. You think a good, healthy QB would feel threatened by a guy coming off of a major injury? No, they w…[Read more]

Even if it was just an ACL tear, 7.5 months is (mid January to end of august) still nothing but wishful thinking, so it falls on Whitt regardless.

I doubt Cam was able to lie about it. I’m assuming the Utah medical staff would want to see documentation about the injury, no? Even if Cam did lie about it simply being an ACL tear, which I’m not going to assume, it’s still incompetence by Whitt. Even just an ACL tear would be difficult to come back from in 7.5 months (mid January to late Augus…[Read more]

Yeah, I would genuinely be shocked if he played at all, let alone in the month of October. I could maybe see him coming back in game 9, but by then, we will have lost to USC and Oregon, and our season would be over. Might as well play Brandon Rose at that point and see what he can do.

1) This is all Whitt needed to say and fans would understand and leave the rumors alone.
2) This makes it that much more idiotic to not take a transfer QB. I thought given his timeline and how he reacted on the field, that he just tore his ACL. But tearing his ACL, meniscus, and MCL and NOT taking a transfer QB was idiotic from Whitt. I’m g…[Read more]

22Ute22 replied to the topic If Cam was to play – how much difference would it make? in the forum Football 1 year, 3 months ago
Even assuming that he is nowhere near as fast or mobile, he still makes the team way better. He would recognize coverages and blitzes pre-snap and react accordingly. He would create a downfield passing threat that would force teams to not stack the box, thereby improving the running game. An experienced, veteran QB makes a huge difference over the…[Read more]

I agree, and I’ve been critical of this whole Cam situation. At the end of the day, I’d trust the doctor who performed my surgery and is regarded as one of the best in the business, over the team medical staff. That being said, no reps for Cam until the doctor clears him for games.

Brant isn’t getting into the NFL. He was already a long shot due to being a tweener, but now that he’s coming off a bad ACL injury and won’t have any post-injury tape, I’m not sure he’d even be an UDFA. Doesn’t help that NFL scouts will probably be aware of his brother having to retire due to ACL injury.

Vele and Matthews definitely aren’t crap. Pittman probably isn’t that good, but we don’t know since he’s barely played. Simmons is terrible though. McClain looked really good against Weber State.

22Ute22 replied to the topic QB RECRUITING in the forum Football 1 year, 3 months ago
Utah isn’t a blue blood, but we aren’t Texas Tech either. We’ve shown to be a very competitive and consistent program over the past decade. I absolutely think we can get a player like Devin Brown. Where else is he gonna go? The only reason he wouldn’t come to Utah is due to our scheme. As for Maalik, you’re correct. I also heard he’s just ok, bu…[Read more]

Honestly I have no idea how Brown is rated higher than Wilson. I’ve been more impressed by Isaac tbh, but then again, I’m not a QB coach or recruiter. Additionally, Brown doesn’t seem like he’s a dual threat guy. Reading up on him, he just sounds like a worse version of Dante Moore, and we see how he looked against a good defense as a true freshma…[Read more]

Great time imo. Night games and prime time games should be reserved for good teams like USC and Oregon, and it seems like both those will be at 4:30 or later. Plus, and I don’t know how much of a factor this really is, but playing an earlier game than USC seems beneficial for us, especially since they are playing a very physical ND team.

To me, that’s the most frustrating thing about NJ’s play. He keeps the ball when he shouldn’t, and hands it off when he should keep it.

From everything we’ve read, it seems like Ludwig’s offense is fundamentally flawed. We’ve heard that it’s complex and like an NFL style offense. We’ve heard it’s difficult to master, hence why Bentley and Brewer didn’t pan out, aside from them also just not being that good. If that’s true, it’s fundamentally flawed. In the age of the transfer port…[Read more]

I don’t trust a damn thing Whitt says about injuries. He said Cam was a game time decision for Florida. We now know that was a blatant lie. Barnes said he was notified that he’d be the starter like 10 days before. Whitt said Cam was cleared for practice with no limitations the day of the Florida game. He completely lied about his availability for…[Read more]

1) I’m correct no matter what. Having your QB miss 5 games is unacceptable when he could have done something about it. Whitt didn’t know we’d be 4-1. Frankly, we are lucky we aren’t 2-3.
2) If he doesn’t play, gets injured again, or plays poorly due to not be 100%, then I was extremely on point. What would you say in those cases?
