  • The only guarantee is that it’ll never get fixed under Whitt. Hopefully Scalley is different in regards to his offense when he’s a coach.

  • No matter what, it has to be a coaching thing, whether it be recruiting, scheme, or development. Look at the top 5 WR yardage leaders from last year. You would probably expect them all to be highly recruited guys from elite schools, right? Nope.

    1) Nathaniel Dell, 0.77 rated recruit. Houston cougars.
    2) Charlie Jones, 0.77 rated recruit.…[Read more]

  • Ok? So because it worked out badly before, it will always work out badly? Guess we might as well never sign another 4 star QB since Costelli and Tuttle transferred out and were terrible.

  • I agree, but that’s basically the situation Utah is in right now. Inexperienced QB that doesn’t have command of the whole playbook, and a good defense. This game might turn into the sickos game of the week.

  • Do we actually know how good they are though? Barnes couldn’t find an open WR or TE to save his life in the Baylor game. Our coaching staff clearly doesn’t like our QB’s to throw 50/50 balls to WR’s/TE’s, or else we would do it more often. They also only trust Nate with half the playbook, and he’s unpolished anyway. There have been some plays…[Read more]

  • That’s great experience for Nate, but we are playing for this season. All the other guys deserve the highest percent chance to win, and our coaches blew it by not going for a transfer QB.

  • We can, but it’s going to be hard fought and will come down to the wire imo. Right now I’d say Utah has the better defense, but UCLA has the much better offense. Our defense will have to play lights out and keep the crowd into it. Very disappointed it’s come to this though.

  • No fanbase wants to be completely left in the dark about this, so it’s not just Utah fans that have an “entitlement” issue.

  • He’s not better than what he showed against Baylor. He can’t make multiple reads, locks his eyes on one player, and holds on to the ball a bit too long. He also doesn’t keep his eyes down field when he is escaping the pocket, and just tucks the ball and runs. Thankful for what he did during his time, but hopefully we don’t ever need him to take me…[Read more]

  • Lol if you think Whitt would announce it. He wouldn’t announce it 2 hours before the game, let alone 2 days. I love Whitt, but his and other coaches secretive antics around their team is so annoying. I like Dave Aranda being completely transparent with team injuries. Lincoln Riley is even worse in regards to this sh*t.

  • Damn, that hurts to hear. I feel like the earliest we see Kuithe is the cal game, and if he’s not in that game, I’d honestly count him out for the year.

Is Barnes graduating? I don’t feel like he’d transfer and potentially screw up his chance at a free education. As for Wilson, I didn’t realize he would take a mission trip, but even so, it makes no sense to take Elijah Brown. It’s highly unlikely that he would play anyway. If the coaches wanted another QB, a veteran transfer QB would be the best option.

If the medical decision for Cam comes tomorrow, I feel like they should split the reps 50/50.

I agree and disagree with some of your points.

You’re right that Texas is recruited heavily. Not only does Texas have 13 (YES THIRTEEN) FBS teams that have a huge advantage (play at home), but SEC teams also heavily recruit the state. Texas is the state that is probably recruited the most tbh. The west coast schools don’t recruit the east coa…[Read more]

Why would we need Elijah Brown, and why would he come anyway?

Utah will have NJ, Rose, Wilson, and Howard next year for QB, and I guess even Barnes. That’s not even considering the possibility of a transfer, although I would not want a transfer QB next year. Why would he come to play for Utah when he probably wouldn’t even play for 3 years at min…[Read more]

Has there been any talk in practice about getting the TE’s more involved? King and Yassmin have barely been targeted, and both have capability of making big plays. It seems like Barnes and Johnson don’t look for the TE’s as much as Cam does.

  • 22Ute22 replied to the topic Hate to be that guy, in the forum Football 1 year, 3 months ago

Damn, that’s actually kinda concerning. Cam seemed to have a carefree (in a good way) personality. The fact that he could have a mental block is quite surprising. Hope he’s ok.

  • This and some of your other comments are exactly my point. People are flaming me for “hypothetical losses,” but NEWSFLASH, that is how hypotheticals work. It is not out of the realm of possibility that we lose to both UCLA and OSU without Cam. Did this forum forget the horrendous display of offense against a mediocre Baylor team? Baylor did…[Read more]

  • Right, but now we don’t even get the opportunity to see what could have been. I’m personally fine with having Nate Johnson, but it seems like our coaching staff doesn’t trust him much, considering that Whitt in the most recent press conference said that Nate is only allowed to run half the playbook at the moment.

  • Yeah, that’s kind of the point. Our coaches were never gonna tell him to hit the portal. So it was basically all on Cam on what our QB situation was going to be. Had he decided to just move on with his life, or potentially join the staff as an assistant, we could have gotten a portal QB.
