Yeah, that’s kind of the point. Our coaches were never gonna tell him to hit the portal. So it was basically all on Cam on what our QB situation was going to be. Had he decided to just move on with his life, or potentially join the staff as an assistant, we could have gotten a portal QB.

In talking about when Cam hesitated on coming back or declaring for the draft last December. Had he declared for the draft in early December, we would have 100% gone after a portal QB and would have gotten a quality one. Cam decided to come back after the rose bowl injury, but at that point, he didn’t really have much of a choice, and neither d…[Read more]

I love Cam and Kuithe, but does anyone else feel like they might have screwed us over, especially Cam? There were a lot of quality QB’s in the transfer portal this past offseason, and him coming back/hesitating on his decision really held our coaching staff hostage on potentially getting a portal QB, and another portal TE. Let’s say we lose to UCL…[Read more]

Man, that 2019 team was so special. Just had bad injury luck and a dogshit O-line. Huntley and Moss deserved our O-line from this year or last year, not the shameful abomination they got that year.

22Ute22 replied to the topic Utes back in the top ten. Do we deserve to be there? in the forum Football 1 year, 3 months ago
I don’t think so. This is one of those weird cases where despite having impressive wins, we aren’t a top team at the moment. It’s incredibly impressive that we bullied Florida with so many missing starters. It was impressive to beat a P5 team on the road on a 130 degree field with a 3rd and 4th string QB. However, we still have to judge a team…[Read more]

22Ute22 replied to the topic What do we know about Weber State in the forum Football 1 year, 3 months ago
Nah, this is perfect. If Weber State was game 1, Barnes probably takes half that game time and we don’t find out that he needs to be benched. Now Nate can get all those reps and experience.

22Ute22 replied to the topic Unis this week in the forum Football 1 year, 3 months ago
I hope so. I don’t care if we are with UA, Nike, Adidas, or Jordan. As long as the uniforms look nice and we change the stripes on the uniforms/helmets, I don’t care who makes the uniforms. I also hope we can bring back our Satin and Chrome helmets to switch it up.

I just watched their game against Northern Iowa (just dropped out of the rankings). It’s on YouTube if you want to watch it. Here are the stats:
Weber State had 15 first downs and 390 yards. Northern Iowa had 21 first downs and 358 yards. So why was this a 34-17 win for Weber State? Turnovers. Weber State had 6 takeaways, winning the turnover b…[Read more]

Whitt and Ludwig would be foolish if they “take it easy” on Weber this year. They need to let Nate air it out and build chemistry with the WR’s. If that means we run up the scoreboard in the process, so be it.

Hmm, a lot of those don’t make much sense. I don’t see how Boston college is ahead of Rice. Rice beat Houston and lost by 27 to Texas. Boston College lost to Northern Illinois, who just got beat by FCS southern Illinois (number 16 in FCS rankings) this past week. Boston College also barely beat FCS Holy Cross (ranked 5 in FCS). Liberty is also 2-0…[Read more]

How is that contradictory? Barnes is not allowed to get hit and Nate Johnson isn’t either.

22Ute22 replied to the topic Nate Johnson / Tyler Huntley in the forum Football 1 year, 4 months ago
We will see against Weber State. I hope the coaches let him take all kinds of shots, and allow him to make mistakes. Let him throw a few deep balls down the sideline. Let him throw a corner route and see his ball placement. Let’s see him throw a deep post, and see if he can throw the ball fast, accurate, and in stride. This is a PERFECT game for N…[Read more]

Huh? Tyler Huntley was absolutely shifty and elusive. He needed to be with his terrible our O-line play was in 2019. That being said, Nate is even more shifty, elusive, faster, and an overall better runner. But let’s see if he can be anywhere near as good a passer as Huntley. Nate will at least have a good O-line to give him time.

22Ute22 replied to the topic Shouldn't our offense be better? in the forum Football 1 year, 4 months ago
People severely underestimate how important a QB is. It’s only 1/11 players on offense, but it’s like 50-70% of your offensive production, depending on scheme. Not to mention being able to recognize defenses pre-snap, take checkdowns when necessary, and minimize interceptions. I’ve seen USC and Oregon fans say Utah isn’t scary to them because…[Read more]

Whitt just secretly means he prefers the early games because apparently he doesn’t like waiting all day, but the night atmosphere is much better and we seem to play better at night. Hence, I prefer night games.

Kinda surprised too. We seemed to have all the momentum at the end of the game and Baylor’s defense looked GASSED. I’m assuming he just didn’t want Nate to potentially make a mistake in OT, and didn’t want to play any more football than necessary on a 120+ degree field.

22Ute22 replied to the topic UCLA kick at 1:30 on Fox in the forum Football 1 year, 4 months ago
Yeah, I know. Our front 7 is much improved and Moore is good, but he isn’t at DTR’s level and he is nowhere near as fast or elusive. He’s also never played in a hostile environment. Granted day games at RES don’t feel as hostile as night games.

I feel like we play so bad at this time slot lol. This was the same time slot as last year against UCLA, and we got destroyed.

22Ute22 replied to the topic BYU and Baylor in 2024 in the forum Football 1 year, 4 months ago
Baylor will probably be better next year. Their O-line will be more experienced and I’m pretty sure they will return all of their best WR’s. Their secondary should be more experienced too. We will also be breaking in a new QB.

22Ute22 replied to the topic Please, no more Barnes. in the forum Football 1 year, 4 months ago
Lol you are assuming he even starts. News flash, he won’t. The QB battle was settled on the field this past week. Barnes nearly cost us the game and Nate had to lead a comeback. Only a fool would let Barnes start against Weber. Nate and Barnes share the same floor at the moment, but Nate’s ceiling is way higher. Nate needs to play against Web…[Read more]
