  • I agree. Rising put the team between a rock and a hard place. He didn’t decide to come back until after the rose bowl, and by the at point, basically every good QB in the portal had already committed. On the other hand, I’m not sure if Kuithe comes back if Rising leaves, or if we get Pittman.

  • Not to mention their O-line going to be worse, despite the vehement denial by UF fans, and the absolute cope that it’s going go be better. Our D-line and LB’s are also much more experienced, bigger, and better this year. They act like he will have 7+ seconds to throw on every play, or that their true freshman WR’s are just gonna run past our DB’s…[Read more]

  • Ole Miss got a backup 5 Star (Walker Howard) and a seasoned veteran QB (Spencer Sanders) to transfer in, despite the fact that Jaxson Dart is there and already had a year starting in the system. Looks like Dart also is gonna start this year. We probably could have gotten Spencer Sanders if we really wanted to.

  • Well, it all depends on how Nate does in practice. If he’s not doing as well as Barnes, then he should not start over Barnes. Of course he will have his packages, and hopefully it is more than 1-2 trick plays, especially since Ludwig has had a whole offseason to come up with something. As for Cam, if he cannot escape the pocket and scramble, I d…[Read more]

  • It’s obviously a bit biased, but from what I’ve seen, their DL is going to be better, even with the loss of expected key contributor Justus Boone. Their LB’s are supposedly going to be better, but I don’t think it’s going to be by an extraordinary amount. They did lose one of their best LB’s in Ventrell Miller to the draft. Their corners sho…[Read more]

  • Wow, Fano starting is HUGE. Our o line was pretty good last year, and if he’s starting, it shows how talented he is. No wonder Michigan was aggressively after him. I’m assuming he’ll play Guard because it’s a little easier? I’d expect him to switch to Tackle in year 2.

  • Yeah, the only concern of the D-line is the DE size. I absolutely love our DT’s. Tafuna is a monster, and Pepe getting an offseason to lose the bad weight and improve his technique and stamina is huge. They will be a force. Our LB’s are also MUCH better this year. Reid and Barton finally have experience and are a little more grown, and Damuni is…[Read more]

  • A lot of Florida fans seem to think they’ll dominate in the trenches based on the weight disparity seen below. I pulled this info from a tweet.

“Big size advantage in the trenches to FL.

    Projected starters:
    UF’s OL – averages 6’5” 325
    Utah’s DL – averages 6’3” 285
    UF + 40lbs

    UF’s DL – avg 6’5” 305
    Utah’s OL – avg 6’4” 315
    Utah +10lbs”…[Read more]

  • I love Whitt, but it’s more likely that Whitt’s conservative play style and his offensive philosophy is something that stunts QB growth. I do find it likely that his severe emphasis on turnovers is something that prevents growth as a downfield passer and taking shots when guys are on an island (50/50 balls). I’m shocked that we don’t have a QB co…[Read more]

Kyler Murray had to be carted off the field, while Cam was able to walk off on his own strength and was laughing and smiling on the sidelines when he came back. I seriously doubt they are the same severity.

  • 22Ute22 replied to the topic ACL surgery in the forum Football 1 year, 5 months ago

Sorta true, but it really depends on the severity of the ACL tear. From what we heard about Kuithe’s, it was pretty bad. Didn’t he immediately fall to the ground and scream in pain? Cam, on the other hand, seemed fairly fine and was even seen smiling and laughing on the sidelines after he came back. I do believe that Kuithe’s was more sever…[Read more]

  • a Nate Johnson triple option package? I know it’s probably unlikely, but he’s an amazing athlete and it would heavily keep teams on their toes. Even if it’s just a package of 10ish plays, I think it could be very valuable. Especially considering that we have a lot of great RB’s and TE’s, I think it’s something that could really play to the strengt…[Read more]

Forgot to ask about TE. With Kuithe being questionable, I would have assumed that King and Bentley would get the majority of the reps. If Kuithe isn’t ready, do we rely more on the WR’s? Are Miki and Noah viable receiving threats, or are they mainly blocking TE’s?

  • Only think I might be worried about is DE size. Connor O’Toole is good, but he looks a bit undersized to be a traditional edge rusher. I’m hoping he gained some size/strength during the offseason.

Any update on CJ Blocker? I was just as high on him as Smith Snowden, if not higher.

The cal game where we lost that heartbreak was also BS because the refs wasted one of our timeouts. Still should have won tho.

  • 22Ute22 replied to the topic Watching UW Cal in the forum Football 5 years, 4 months ago

We beat Cal when Gameday was in town. I’m pretty sure we had 5 picks too. Way too close but that was an exciting game.

  • Too early to tell. Look at the UW fans who said that Eason would be a god and that they’d go to the rose bowl again. And they already lost a conference game. Pac 12 is still a huge mystery. How much is Utah holding back? How good is Oregon really? How can WSU do against an actual team? Their defense has been pretty bad. USC scared some Ute fans f…[Read more]
