Whitt: Look, Rose is clearly better, but we want Isaac Wilson to be under Cam’s wing for the whole year as he is the future.
Ludwig to Whitt: Ok, I’ll tow the company line and make IW QB2.
Ludwig to Media: uh, yeah, IW has moved into the two spot with his improvement over the last two weeks, plus spring ball help him, blah, blah, blah.

If he’s not “all in”, you know the rest.

For those in the know, has he slowed down, is he working the same amount of hours, or is he coasting? I’m doubtful that he’s coasting but I wonder how far removed he is from the details of coaching up player.
I’m just saying, is Whitt operating at 100% or is he switching roles to Scalley mid stream?

I thought Ludwig made the call on Wilson, right? It’s well documented. Also, Wilson is Ludwig’s recruit, no?
Also, Ludwig stepped down.

I agree, but a coach as good as Urban is not going to stay at Utah, therefore, Whittingham is the greatest coach Utah could have that would stay long term.

We don’t have a full running back. Sorry. We don’t. We have a 6-10 play running back. We can’t close games.

Agree. Make the kid earn it based on merit. It’s seems like this didn’t happen here and it didn’t sit right with the team.

You’re not wrong. Everything Utah built as far as culture and long term development, was squashed. We traded the long smoked meat dinner for a microwave dinner. Now we have to eat it as sports fans.

Agree. The problem is if he’s mid at pass blocking, and the RG is woeful at pass blocking, then we have some problems straight up the gut.

I want to believe, but there’s not one area on offense that we are good at. Running? No, except maybe Iowa stat is really bad at run defense. Our RB is 220 ish graded at his position. Passing? All 3 QB’s are ranked below 300 in passing grades. I just don’t see it.

They look nice. The curse of the interlocking UU continues.

Bills’s PFF Grades were in the low 70’s for 2022 and 2023, which puts him top 100 for all Guards in College Football. Mokofisi’s grades were 63 for 2024 and 2023, which puts him outside the top 200 in CFB.

But why? Why are these guys not improving? Poor technique? They don’t watch film? They’re not getting stronger? I’m ok with a change from Harding.
Laumea was drafter last year.
Braeden Daniels was drafted in 2022. -

What was your insight to Mokofisi? He graded a 63 this year and a 63 last year, for no improvement. I generally believe that upper classman OL that have started multiple years get really good, but he isn’t. Why? Does he not understand the zone blocking scheme?

We’ve seen what it’s like having a potent offense at 38 PPG and a potent defense….see 2021 and TT’s 21 TD’s…that was a fun year.

I’m feel like Bernard is good for 8-10 strong runs a game, then he wears down and just doesn’t have the explosiveness.

What I’ve been saying is, we’ve won with bad QB play before as long as the RB was a future NFL guy. We’ve won with OL’s similar to this one. 6 game losing streak with a RB that is not top 200 in the country. That makes a little sense to me. Also, Utah RB’s have been very bad at pass blocking. Like grading below 30. But usually that will get put on the OL.

I pulled up the PFF Grades and the rankings of Utah players among their position group peers. Some interesting data. I know PPF grades aren’t everything but I do think they show some trends.

Stack the box. The quarterback had three interceptions. Stack the box. Especially when you know the quarterback can’t throw the ball accurately downfield. The quarterback had less than 6 yards per completion. Stack the box, stack the box, stack the box.

Agree. I think he’s too small. If he was a little better runner I think you could have something in a dual threat guy. Hard to see over the line. Poor accuracy on the deep balls.
