Plenty of great coaches experience failure (see Nick Saban, Lane Kiffin, Steve Sarkisian, Chip Kelly).  His failure at Oregon State is not reflective of him as a coach.  He had absolutely no talent to work with.

Of course Kyle influences it, but if it were truly only his defense why is it so different under each coordinator?  Scalley’s defense was different than Pease’s defense, which was different than Sitake’s defense, which was different than Anderson’s defense.

Plus, Gary has developed proven defenses outside of Kyle’s tutelage.

They’ve been playing teams with similar records and have lost every game (with several being blowout losses) with Utah being the exception. The P12 is just weak, there really is no denying it.

Lots of people were wondering why USC wasn’t being talked about when tOSU was because they both had a similar ranking, same record, and were champions of their respective conferences.

USC has active scholarship offers beyond their total scholarship allotment.  Which means they are willing to dump some of their current commits if a better recruit commits later.

It’s just low class, in my opinion. Don’t offer a kid a scholarship and let them commit if you aren’t willing to honor it indefinitely. 

Agreed. There seems to be a lot people trying to downplay the significance of these bowl games, but no amount of rationalization can explain these blow out losses to mediocre programs.

This is not a good look for the P12 and is why the conference has credibility issues. 

Disagree because it’s like this every year for the P12. And on the rare occasion a P12 team makes it to a playoff/championship game, they lose, and generally lose big (a la Washington last year). USC did beat Penn State last year in the Rose Bowl, and was a good win, but it seems like that is a rare event for the P12.

Regardless of how successful he ends up being, it’s just exciting to have such a high-profile kid choose Utah over schools like USC and Alabama.
