Until Utah is firmly in the Big12 with pro rata shares, there is reason to be concerned. Period.

Pro rata is only for the ESPN share. Fox didn’t have the pro rata clause. Earlier reports by Thamel indicated the league would have to “stretch and work with media partners” to make additions to 16 work, but that it would be achievable.

Because they should have left immediately after CU did. It was so painfully obvious at that point what the end result was going to be.

If the Big12 invites us, they will probably offer a reduced share of Big12 media money because we are desperate now.

The school just screwed themselves.

Moving to the Big12 has been the clear choice ever since CU bolted. Let’s just hope it’s not too late. Utah’s inaction in all this has been awful. If they are relegated to the MountainPac conference, then it will be entirely their fault for not being proactive.

Not happy with how my alma mater has handled this.

Not trying to be a doomsday bringer, but if UW and UO go to the Big12, there is a very real possibility that Utah will be left behind in a very watered down Pac12.

This is honestly getting a bit scary. This is not the time for hubris for Utah. This is becoming an emergency situation.

Disappointing loss in the Rose Bowl, but I am pretty damn content with a conference championship and final AP top 10 ranking.

Nope. UW lost to ASU. You can’t lose to a 3 win team and expect to be in the CCG. UW also didn’t play USC. Neither did Oregon.

A single head to head result doesn’t determine who best performed against the entirety of the schedule. That’s not how any of this works.

Utah and USC were the two best teams. The tiebreaker rules got it right.

Well said. And this is going to prove itself over and over again in the 12 team playoff. Don’t get me wrong, I’m super excited to see more CFB games but the elite teams will continue to regularly win national championships with an occasional Cinderella team once every decade, a la TCU this year.

The “backing in” narrative is the dumbest oft repeated line I’ve seen this season from our fanbase.

Some Ute fans just can’t help but resort to self-loathing and misery when things don’t go well. It’s pathetic.
