  • A couple of observations:

    1. Our HC and coaching staff are amazing.  Enjoy it while it lasts, because there is no guarantee the next HC will perform like this.

    2. The fact that USC isn’t on this list is an embarrassment to their institution.  I don’t know without looking, but I would be willing to bet they have a similar number of 4/5 star…[Read more]

Just venting here for a second…
I’m a little annoyed that a garbage UCLA team is still in the running for the division title given how horrendously bad they were the first half of the season.  It’s a bad look for the conference that such a poor team is still in the mix for a division title this late in the season.
Furthermore, it adds to the…[Read more]

The scar tissue from the 2011 Colorado loss is still tender.  Nobody would have thought that Colorado, a team that was 2-10 and hadn’t won a road game in 4 years would keep us from the inaugural P12 title game.

  • Doubt it. It’s rare for 18-year-olds to think 2 weeks ahead, let alone years.

  • Our biggest obstacle in getting to the CFP is our next game against UCLA.  I’m not even going to entertain the thought of making the playoff until we win out.  Even if we win out in the regular season, Oregon is a tough matchup.  So much football left to be played.

  • …their fans have no respect for Utah at all. 90% of their fans think they will easily win and that Utah is overrated trash.
Can’t really blame them. UW owns Utah in general, and Petersen has been owning Whitt since 2006.
I would love nothing more than to blow out UW and humble their arrogant fanbase.

EagleMountainUte made a very astute observation earlier today.  Utah’s defense is being described as “elite” this year by many football analysts (and the stats back up those claims).  However, I agree with EMU in that Utah’s defense isn’t markedly better than in year’s past.
The differense is that we finally have a good offense to go with the…[Read more]

  • Tyler Huntley has had a rough time versus ASU.
    2017 – 19/35, 155 yds, 0 TD 4 INT, 11.6 QBR
    2018 – 7/15, 88 yds, 1 TD 2 INT, 46.3 QBR (injured in the 3rd quarter)
For some reason, Tyler has played extraordinarily bad against ASU.  Add in the frustration he must feel from sustaining his season-ending injury last year against them, I hope he is…[Read more]

  • I wasn’t impressed with ASU last year either. I honestly thought Utah was going to roll, and well, we all know how that game turmed out.

The problem with ASU is they typically have 2-3 really good athletes. This year it’s Daniels, Benjamin, and Aiyuk. Between those three, they are able to stay in every game until the end, and Herm has been…[Read more]

  • The ranking takes into consideration total number of recruits. Utah has 5. This ranking means absolutely nothing right now. But you already know that.

Huntley is the type of QB I get so frustrated with when their on the opposing team. So glad this guy is on our team. That little pitch to Brumfield on 4th down as he was in the process of being sacked was CLUTCH.

  • This is a terrible take. His mom is not a helicopter parent and she has been amazingly supportive of Utah. She is simply advocating for her son, like any parent would. A lot of people are making the same observation, so it’s not just her.

  • This guy seems to catch everything. Kind of reminds me of Carrington, strong hands and makes great adjustments to catch the ball.  His mom is very engaged on twitter and she mentioned (in a very benign way) that he doesn’t seem to be getting enough touches. I agree with her.

Their offense looks much improved running the air raid. Their receivers are, of course, amazing. JT Daniels looks a lot more comfortable this year.

Defensive line and linebackers look solid and are aggressive.

Their weak spot is their secondary. It’s obvious. Utah better be prepared to throw down field to be competitive at the coliseum.

  • 1. Utah is really, really, really going to miss Chase Hansen.
    2. Zach Wilson won’t be as agressive a runner as he was last year. If he runs with reckless abandon like he did against Utah last year, he won’t survive their first four games.  BYU-P offensive coaches pulled out all the stops against Utah, that won’t be the case next Thursday.  If…[Read more]

  • I joke about this happening a lot, but it actually makes sense in a lot of ways. Urban has coached at some of the nation’s premier schools, won multiple national championships, and has had unprecendented amounts of success. If he came back to Utah and was able to get to the CFP, or win a title, he would be cemented as the greatest college football…[Read more]
