  • Mixed feelings about this one. Deion (and the team) have that ‘attitude’ which fans love or hate.

With what’s going on after this season, list of how I feel about the teams (from most liked to most disliked)

    Utah (naturally)
Wazzou and Oregon State (just horrible they are being left behind and likely headed to MWC)
Cal and Stanford (at least…[Read more]

  • UCLA is most important home game on the schedule for me (because the LA schools more than anything started the implosion of our once proud conference) so very excited for Saturday. But hoping we start getting some players back. Yes we have depth, but we’re going to inevitably get more players knocked around over the conference schedule and will…[Read more]

  • Nothing that I can find about this on the ESPN website.

Intuitively, 18 teams with a west division of Utah/BYU, Zona schools, Wazzou/OSU, Kansas schools, and Colorado and east division of the 9 others, could leave us in a stable league with much of our schedule being to closer schools.

As far as the football title game location, MWC found out…[Read more]

An intriguing matchup. Wish wasn’t played same time as our game.

Now that Colorado, with a completely overhauled roster has played a few games, opponents will be able to analyze game film and be better prepared.

On the East side, caught the full brunt of the sun and there was not a trace of any cloud in the sky. Only got to about 80 but still was rough. My liter of water was gone by the half.

Forecast looks like possible rain Thur/Fri, then clears up again for the weekend. Hopefully will have some lingering clouds on Saturday.

    Would have been ideal…[Read more]

  • Last time we played Idaho was in 1993 and they gave Utah one of our more humbling defeats we’ve ever had. (Back before the Vandals eventually spent some time in FBS only to later drop back to FCS and rejoin the Big Sky).

  • I’ve tried the same trick in EA College Football a few times myself.

  • I can only imagine Bill Walton doing the color commentary for a hoops game between San Jose State versus Air Force and endlessly saying “Conference of Champions!”

  • I thought perhaps he was trying to take as many ticks off the clock as possible before scoring as even a PAT distance field goal can fail. Then the Bear defender deliberately shoved him over the goal line.

    Unusual situation.

  • Too many short kickoffs and subsequent long returns has hurt in recent years. Helps to have more touchbacks. Strong special teams play last weekend (the missed FG was just wide from about 55 yards out) and our punter, Bouwmeester BOOMED several 60+ punts earning conference POW honors.

  • The reviewed call was one many of us expected to be overturned (including those of us at the stadium, and as I understand, the TV announcers) but very little chance had it been called incomplete that a review would have called it a catch. Overall a decently called game. Guys in stripes are human and make mistakes, but there weren’t as many as…[Read more]

  • Those of us used to watching everything on Dish or cable will need to get used to streaming. (I finally bought a smart TV earlier this year). 6 of this weekend’s games involving the Big12 are on ESPN+ (whereas every PAC12 game not on a regular network is picked up by PAC12 network).

  • Utah used to have a tradition of students trying to run the length of the field at halftime on Homecoming weekend and make it before being caught by security, but haven’t any attempts for a while now.

  • Reviews were apparently deemed inconclusive. Doubt very much had it been ruled a trap at first that the review would have reversed the call.

Agree on the above statement that it was nice not to have multiple reviews for targeting on clean hits.

  • Most encouraging Special Teams play seen in quite some time.

  • Costco often has Ute attire

Utah outplayed the Gators for the most part and potentially could have left the Swamp victorious, but Florida made the key plays on both sides of the ball which was the difference.

I remember when Utah was playing at Minnesota around 1990 or so and we were tied with a few seconds left and their all-conference kicker is attempting a field goal to win the game. Utah blocked it and ran it back to shock the gophers and win the game. Ron McBride ran the length of the field with the team to celebrate in the end zone.

Couple of other changes I can recall.

    1. Team can’t take multiple time outs at one time (most commonly this has occurred in past years trying to ice the kicker.
    2. (Rather insignificant) No longer will have an ‘untimed’ play when there is a defensive penalty on the last play of the 1st/3rd quarter.

Afraid that Utah and BYU fan bases are overwhelming some of the BIG 12 Facebook pages (even the ones that weren’t created in the last few months). On one of them, I just saw a comment (from a fan of one of the other schools) lamenting that there isn’t any football talk on that page anymore, just a battle of words between Utah and BYU fans.
