Can’t be worse than in Denver

utefansince79 replied to the topic Wow…worst crowd of the year or so I thought in the forum Basketball (Men) 12 months ago
Kind of a Catch 22. Potential fans stay away because we can’t get quality recruits. One take I have on that is that when Kyle is trying to entice football recruits, they can invite the player and family to a home football game where they witness the passion of the crowd which includes a packed boisterous MUSS, and the rowdy north end zone.…[Read more]

utefansince79 replied to the topic Keba Keita MONSTROUS DUNK in the forum Basketball (Men) 12 months ago
Starting because Lovering has an injury. Trick is that if Keba gets a few early fouls by an official with a tight hand and quick whistle, we’ll be limited in our options who to bring off the bench.
Hopefully our 2 starters can return healthy soon as we’ll need them heading into the heart of the conference season.

Had several thunder slams and a few crushing blocked shots last night. Not to mention his rebounding. Very fun exciting player to watch.

How many teams besides Utah have a 100% winning percentage against Bama under Saban?

Will very much need ESPN+ beginning next year for a lot of Utah games. Was using it to watch Baylor/BYU last night.

Darn. Jonah had become my favorite player on the team. At least he’s not headed to another school. All the best to him in his upcoming pro career.

Coaches poll just dropped, Utah 29th in both polls.
Polls mean very little to the selection committee. Schedule strength, quality wins, bad losses, etc. are what determines who gets in the dance and where they are seeded.

Utah was poised to sneak into the Big Dance last year before the injuries to Madsen and Worster and we lacked the depth to overcome the loss. Great chance to make it this time (8 or 9 seed in some projections right now) but indeed fun seeing the team improve. Need fans to get out to the games now.

I would be uneasy spending a lot of $$$$ for Jackson given he has been quite injury prone. Seems to come right back each week (for a quarter or two) but seems a season-ending event is inevitable.
But wherever he lands, I wish him a healthy productive season.
As noted we need to get some playmakers at WR and THROW TO THEM once in a while.

utefansince79 replied to the topic Arizona could be the toughest game of 2024 in the forum Football 1 year ago
Similarly, Utah had a lot of transfers and potential draftees sit out against a mostly full Northwestern squad but you play with you have available. But Arizona is one of the most improved teams in all of college football the last few years (in 2021 went 1-11 which included a loss to Northern Arizona). Will very likely be among the better teams…[Read more]

Really want to be there to support the team, but came down with COVID a few days after the BYU Game (as did a few fans I attended with) and missed the UVU game a few days ago. Finally feeling a bit better last few days, but still keeping myself under quarantine a while longer.

utefansince79 replied to the topic Are Ute fans ready for this? in the forum Basketball (Men) 1 year ago
Devon seemed a bit rusty playing his first game in a long time, but appears ready to be a solid contributor. (Now if only Exacte can come back). Another warm up Wednesday against a team that has given good challenges to teams like Louisville and West Virginia. Then it’s onto conference battles.

I guess one thing to remember is most of the rowdiest spectators in blue in the upper bowl are students and young enough to be my grandchildren. I certainly was more loud and boisterous 4 decades ago when I was in college than I am now.

The visitors wearing blue have very much tried my patience and tolerance their last few visits. When they are ahead on the scoreboard, they get very arrogant.
About a decade ago, they were well in control by halftime. During the break, coach Whittingham and a few of his players came onto the floor to encourage Utah fans to attend the upcoming…[Read more]

Will be unnerving if BYU team and crowd both dominate, but it’s on Utah’s fan base if that happens.

Many games the band outnumbers the rest of the students. They sold out all the seats for this one, but likely will be back to 50 or fewer when UVU comes to play next weekend, and I honestly couldn’t tell if there even was a MUSS section in the Delta Center last week.
I’ll be there (as always) tomorrow to cheer on my Utes, but as I follow…[Read more]

In response to question asking if the athletes get educated:
Back in the day, when schools gave the players a full ride scholarship (seems a very lucrative benefit when many students work their way through college and still graduate with a large student loan debt), players had the incentive to get their degree they can use to help their career…[Read more]

Should they do this and the mostly first string Bulldogs take the Seminoles to the woodshed would just make FSU look bad.
