Yeah it just seems like time for Whitt to retire. Maybe if he had a really talented team coming back next year, but it isn’t looking like it. Time for a change.

LOL I love Spence Checketts, but he spent the week pushing this. “Hey if Utah wins out and chaos happened could they win the Big 12?”
Problem is the team just isn’t any good. Do other bad teams talk about their odds to win the conference as the losses pile up and the eye ball test shows reality? Besides the obvious Ls in the loss column each week, does anyone watch how the team does and think “oh this team can win out and win the Big 12 still?”
This is a bad football team and might finish in last place. If I said which is more likely to happen, the Utes win out or they lose out?” I know what you would pick.

Crazy Urban in 2 years only has one less conference title than a guy who has been the HC for 20. If the Pac 12 didn’t change its qualifying rules before the 22 season, Whitt and Urban would have the same with one coaching 10x as long.

Mike Norvell has done the worst coaching job in the country this year, but there is an argument to be made Whitt is 2nd. Arizona and Houston are awful teams. ASU and TCU are mediocre teams. To have a 4 game losing streak to that group of 4 is just pathetic.

He was supposed to retire on a high note after winning the Big 12 and making the playoff. Instead he is going to retire after a losing season in the biggest letdown season in Utah football history.
I don’t see Whittingham being fired, but he probably should accept reality and retire. This is a terrible coaching job.

Players get paid now and fans pay a lot to go to games. I think we are past the point in college football where nobody should boo because it might hurt the player’s feelings.

2008, but yes. Whitt is a coach whose averages 4 losses a season. He’s a good coach. I’ve never called for him to be fired, but he also isn’t a great coach that should get a statue.

Haha this seems a bit much. I’m not Mormon, but most Mormons are fine and just trying to make it through life like everyone else.
I do agree about Ryan Smith making it harder to be a Jazz fan or support his hockey team. He is using government money to fund his entertainment center that he wants, meanwhile he is pumping millions into tds basketball to make them a great program. Not someone I am eager to support.
As for your experience on Nov 9th, well let’s just say you might be sick. Don’t get your hopes up. It could get ugly. I will be happy if I’m wrong.

20 years to recover? They won the MW Crowton’s first year and Bronco had some very good teams.
Whittingham isn’t being forced out. He is probably the furthest coach from the hot seat in college football. He might call it quits though. He is 65 and this year has to be extra hard on him with the super high expectations. He already has named a coach in waiting, so he isn’t going to be coaching much longer anyway. You don’t name a coach in waiting if you are going to be around a long time.

He has literally gotten injured(or missed the whole season) every year. Nobody should have pushed back that he was injury prone. The biggest recent failure of Whittingham was not having a QB ready to go for 23. Rising to Barnes is such a colossal drop off.
