UTEopia replied to the topic Does anyone know Casey Sutera, played D-line at Utah around 2006? in the forum Football 2 years, 11 months ago
Yes. He was a walkon. Hard worker. Good guy. Everyone liked him. Should be a good coach.

UTEopia replied to the topic Who on here attended a game at the Einar Neilsen Fieldhouse? in the forum Basketball (Men) 2 years, 11 months ago
I saw a couple games there. A neighbor was the scorekeeper and we went up to practice a few times and I was able to get some autographs. My Ute Conference team actually practiced on the dirt in Einer Nielsen before a Thanksgiving Day game.

UTEopia replied to the topic Looks like we will need a RB and DT coach in the forum Football 3 years ago
Jason Kaufusi just left UCLA for UofA, but he would be top of my list to coach DE’s and move Powell to DT’s. Vic So’oto just landed at CU and he would be someone after not being retained at USC. Both are reportedly excellent recruiters. Former Ute Lei Talamaivao, was a grad assistant at Utah and then coached DL at Idaho St. He unexpectedly…[Read more]

UTEopia replied to the topic NCAA looking into BYU NIL for possible violations in the forum They So Poo Poo 3 years, 1 month ago
I have talked with the U about NIL, and not only do they need to review what I am looking at, but the PAC does as well. People are under the misunderstanding that the allowance of NIL somehow eliminated all of the existing NCAA rules that apply to employment of student-athletes. It did not. It simply added name, likeness and image to the…[Read more]

UTEopia replied to the topic Recruiting in the forum Football 3 years, 1 month ago
Although the NCAA has increased the number of initials to allow teams to compensate for players (up to 7) entering the portal, the total scholarship numbers have not increased. The seniors on the current roster did not count against the 85 scholarship limit this past year, so the best way to determine the number available is to look at how many we…[Read more]

I have gone to several University sponsored bowl game tailgates and while the atmosphere is enjoyable, the food has not been worth the cost.

The more time passes, the better the chance that Morgan is the next head coach. If/when it happens, the past problem will again be pushed to the forefront and he will need to be prepared to address it out of the gate. Personally, I think AD’s do a disservice to the school to have a head coach in waiting designation as so many things can happen,…[Read more]

One thing to remember when buying tickets at the Rose Bowl is that seats below row 10 are mostly obstructed by the people standing on sidelines.

UTEopia replied to the topic Bowl game practice in the forum Football 3 years, 1 month ago
Correct – a set number of practices. The advantage of a pre-Christmas game is that the coaches and players can get almost a month off from football before recruiting is again allowed and winter workouts start up. The advantage of a post Christmas game is that the games are better and the players probably have at least a week off from practice…[Read more]

My daughter used to live in Thousand Oaks and we stayed a number of times at the Palm Garden. Very comfortable beds, great breakfast included, easy onto freeway.

UTEopia replied to the topic The Ducks are going to try and air it out in the forum Football 3 years, 1 month ago
I watched Brown is different the last few games than the prior games. It appears that he has some sort of lower body injury impacting his running ability.

UTEopia replied to the topic receivers transferring? in the forum Football 3 years, 1 month ago
The academic ineligibility claim is bogus because he would not have needed to be eligible until fall camp and by NCAA rule, a player needs to be academically eligible at his current school to transfer to another school.

UTEopia replied to the topic Decommits / Transfers bad news… in the forum Football 3 years, 2 months ago
The only thing I can think of is that the coaches told him that they were going to have him sign in February not December. The older brother of the Calvert brothers was committed to USC until they told him the same thing and he hopped over to UCLA

I think Cam is back next year, but if he continues then what he has done this year, I doubt he uses his final year of eligibility.

UTEopia replied to the topic Trib in the forum Football 3 years, 2 months ago
I think Josh Newman provides the best Ute coverage in the market by far. As for the Trib, I subscribe because it is the only news outlet in Utah that actually does some investigative reporting.

UTEopia replied to the topic CCG tickets in the forum Football 3 years, 2 months ago
Below is an e-mail from the U I received the other day. It included pricing for tickets purchased through the U. The pricing was the same as I purchased on Ticketmaster a couple of weeks ago. I can’t imagine there will be a better deal unless you are willing to gamble that prices on the secondary market will come down between now and gamete.…[Read more]
